Q&A with Clone Chronicles

With our game coming up on Saturday, I did a little Q&A with CrossCyed of Clone Chronicles. Be sure and pay him a visit. You can see my answers to his questions  there, too.

After two close losses to UNLV (34-31) and Kansas (35-33), your team has been outscored 73-17 in the last two games. Do you think your team is beginning to get discouraged, and lose hope in the season?

CC: Yes and no. The downhill slide started with the Iowa loss and was followed up by two crushing defeats. With a team as young as ours, that has a tendency to effect the team, and they might be getting a bit down on themselves at this point. We have talent, but it's not clicking.

We all know about Austen Arnaud and Alex Robinson on your offense. Anyone else we need to be aware of?

CC: If you find someone on our offense that either you or I can be aware of, let me know. Right now we more or less have a bunch of jersey's running around.

That being said, true freshman Darius Darks has quickly become a favorite target for Arnaud. He has great hands (especially for a converted QB). He won't burn you, but he's already a solid possession receiver this early into his career.

Is there someone else on your defense besides Kurtis Taylor that we need to worry about?

CC: Leonard Johnson. He's another true freshman that played QB in high school. Look him up on YouTube....the guy can lay wood. He's a hard hitter that forced two fumbles against Nebraska at the cornerback position. He's the one guy on the team that I feel confident will be in the pros. Sometimes he loses his head, but he's good enough and cocky enough to make it big. He's not a ball-hawker.....yet....but for a guy playing cornerback full time for the first time, he's been a godsend.

Right now, ISU is giving up 410 yds per game of total offense. With the Aggie defense basically resembling a sieve, do you look for this game to be a track meet?

CC: Not particularly, because our offense is still quite limited. We've had an extremely hard time cashing in on great field position this year, so an offensive outburst would be a surprise to most.

Why do y'all keep scheduling us for Homecoming? I think this is the third time in a row that I can remember us going to Ames and being your homecoming game. What's up with that?

Looking for a game we have a chance to win? I'm just hoping you guys forgot about the thrashing we gave you last time we played....

There are people that expected 10-11 wins?

Really? Are there on this blog? I’d like to ask them what they were thinking.

In all seriousness, there are some cupcake games coming up (ISU and Baylor), which A&M has a stacked chance of losing, and with the ASU loss, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people to have expected 6 wins on the season, and that is almost certainly not going to be met. So, I would say Sherman has been behind expectations.

With regard to Tech, a client of ours went to Texas Tech and just dropped by the office and walking out he says, “Uh, didn’t we have a football game this weekend?” Ugh.

you ever peruse texags?

The football peons seem to live there.

Since I knew there was a good chance we would have a losing season this year, I don’t think Sherman is behnd expectations.

Ha

I had to give TexAgs up for good. I cannot describe my distaste for that board just given the fact that 1) they ban and/or delete any post that isn’t positive (they deleted a post of mine for advocating that Dennis Franchione be replaced), and 2) it is filled with some of the biggest morons I have ever come across.

As far as pre-season expectations go, I think 6-6 was attainable, 5-7 would have been very reasonable, but 2-2 out of non-conference play is disappointing. ISU and Baylor have to be must wins as, at this point, 4-8 is tough to swallow but not the end of the world; 3-9 is pretty bad, 2-10 is unacceptable. Would that be fair?

I'm hoping for 5-7

I agree with your opinions on those possible records.

The ISU blogger seems to be as beaten down as most of us. Nice to see that we are not alone.
