Sloan slams one against Baylor.

Thoughts:
1) Texas A&M - I think this is about where A&M should be picked to finish. Oklahoma and Texas deserve to be atop the poll, but I think you can argue that any of the top 5 teams could contend for the top 2 spots.

2) Baylor and Kansas - are tied in the pre-season poll? Who thought we would ever see that? It will be interesting to watch these two teams. Can KU rebuild after their National Championship? They have the talent, but lack experience. Can Baylor take the next step?

3) Level of Play - There is a significant drop off between the top 5 teams and the bottom 7 teams in the league. Of course, that's not to say that on any given night one of the bottom level can't rise up and beat a top team. Tceh seems to do it almost every year.

Nice pic! I question how good Texas is going to be with Abrams at PG. I think A&M will be better than most think b/c the center position will be more of an offensive option than it was last year. If Dash Harris is legit at the 1, then we may really have something.

Not sure if Baylor should be ranked ahead of us

I think Scott Drew is questionable as a coach, and their team showed me nothing to make me think they have better talent than we do.

I’d put us right up there in the top 3.

I think we should all ease our expectations of Dash Harris.
I think he will be a legit PG but you can not expect him as a true freshman to be anything other than an average PG. If he is better than that, great, but don’t expect him to be an All-American. We will definitely see some growing pains.

I really like what we could have BD. You are right about his athleticism in the Post. He should be able to match-up with anyone in the Big XII.

I think you could throw the top 5 teams in the Big XII in a hat and draw names out and have just as good a chance as predicting the outcome this year. I think the most talented teams maybe the most inexperienced (Kansas) and schools like A&M and Oklahoma are chomping at the bit.

I also question Scott Drew, but last year was Baylor’s first year with expectations. They managed to get into the Big Dance, so I would not expect anything less this year.

they barely made it into the Dance

and were stomped in the first round, basically showing they didn’t belong there

I stick with my original opinion.

I agree they barely snuck in.

Much like we barely snuck into our first trip to the big dance. Yes, we beat Syracuse, a team that was a bubble team until they made a nice run through the Big East.

To think they will show no progession, with more talent coming, does not make sense. I dont think they are going to win the Big XII, but they certainly are no worse than they were last year. So to think they will make the NCAA Tournament is really not that much of a stretch.

ridiculous? It’s funny and (surprisingly for TexAgs) clever.

we beat a top 10 ranked texas team to get into the Dance

Who did they beat down the stretch that was any good?

Thier resume was incredibly lacking, and they’re lucky the NCAA was feeling lenient towards them b/c of the murder they had a few years ago.

whoa

ok, ok, ok you’re right. Is that what you want me to say?

But there is NO need for that comment.

Say what you want about their basketball team, we can having differing opinions, but that just doesn’t seem right.

I've heard frm people who follow college basketball a lot more closely than I do

that Baylor is getting a lot of leeway from the NCAA in several areas b/c of the Carlton Dotson situation.

Looking at their resume last season and the fact that they still made it into the NCAAs, it is hard to argue against that.
