Random Musings From Around The Country
USC is the most overhyped football team I have seen since, well, USC last year. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but they appear to be an average team on the field every time I watch them. There is nothing special about them except for the recruiting guru rankings of their players coming out of high school, and the exhorbitant amount of pub they get. They have taken Notre Dame's spot as the team the national media most likes to talk about.
Has anyone noticed that LSU is undefeated and probably has a better QB in Jarrett Lee than they had last season?
Right now, four of the top five QBs in the country in pass efficiency rating reside in the Big 12 (Sam Bradford, Zac Robinson, Colt McCoy, Chase Daniel) Although I think the college passing efficiency rating is pretty much a BS statistic, that is still impressive.
Tulsa currently leads the nation in total offense at 596.0 yds/game and scoring offense at 56.40 pts/game. How long before Tulsa OC Gus Malzahn is snapped up by a rebuilding program looking for a HC? If I were the Syracuse AD, I would start making inquiries right now.
Bet you did not know that Texas A&M currently has the 7th best pass defense in the country.
If you put the Big 12 defenses against the SEC offenses, who would win? Definitely not anyone who bought a ticket to watch it.
Boise State's Chris Peterson may be the best in the country at using motion and different formations to create mismatches on the field. He, Malzahn, and Tulsa head coach Todd Graham will be at the top of every AD's list who is looking for a new HC this offseason.

Motion I can see; if a formation is giving them an advantage b/c of a mismatch on the defensive side, that is a mistake by the opposing defensive coach in his personnel grouping.

Todd Graham...
…is the head coach at Tulsa. He was at Rice, and is now hated by everyone there, including the MOB.

fixed
Missed that mistake when I read this earlier.
It seems pretty obvious that Graham felt more at home at Tulsa than he did in Houston, so I can’t blame him for leaving Rice, although doing it so quickly after signing an extension does leave a bad taste in your mouth.
