Dirty Dozen Rankings IV
Our weekly ranking of Big 12 teams. The first week of conference play is over, and we have a better idea of what teams are. Previous week's ranking in parenthesis.
- Oklahoma:(1) Nice win over Baylor.
- Missouri:(2) Slaughtered Nebraska, as expected.
- texas:(3) Cruised over Colorado, as expected.
- Oklahoma State:(4) A&M game was over in first half.
- Texas Tech:(5) Decent win against fading K-State team.
- Kansas:(6) "De facto bye week" almost became a loss.
- Nebraska:(7) Stood on the tracks as Missouri train rolled through.
- Kansas State:(9) Offered little resistance to Tech.
- Colorado:(8) On two game losing streak now.
- Baylor:(10) Less than 40,000 watched loss to OU in Waco.
- Iowa State:(11) Almost pulled off the upset, but faded in end.
- Texas A&M: (12) Residence in cellar is becoming permanent.
Notes: There is a big gap in this conference between the top six and the bottom six teams. Not surprisingly, it is the difference between teams ranked in the Top 25 and the unranked teams. Oklahoma is the closest thing we have to a complete team in this conference, with an outstanding offense, solid special teams, and good defense. Only question is their secondary. Missouri and texas have suspect defenses, and every team from 4-12 lacks a defense. Think about that: two-thirds of our conference is weak on the defensive side of the ball. It doesn't help that we have the best QBs in the nation playing in this conference.
Oklahoma will win easily over texas. This Colorado game is one previous KU teams would have lost. Colorado's season may be hinging on this game. A week after facing Missouri, Nebraska travels to Lubbock. This is the first true road test of Pellini's team. If they hold Tech under 50, that will be a victory in itself. Missouri-Oklahoma State is the week's second best match-up, behind OU-texas. I expect Missouri to win in a shootout. Baylor has a good chance to notch another win with Iowa State coming to Waco; perhaps the Baylor faithful will actually deign to show up for this game. A&M's game with Kansas State represents one of their best chances to get a win this season.

my rankings
1. OU - Top Dog
2. Mizzou - Looked great against a subpar Cronhusker team
3. Texas - Look better and better every week…Anyone know who they play this week?
4. Texas Tceh - Ran up on an inept KSu team
5. Oklahoma State - Looked great against A&M. Questions on defense
6. Kansas - disappointing they played poor against ISU
7. Nebraska - Sliding, there non-conf schedule will be the only saving grace that gets them into a bowl game
8. Colorado - took a step backwards the last 2 weeks, but this young club should get better everyweek
9. Kansas State - Looked bad against Tceh. Tceh was on pace for 800 yds at one point in the first half.
10. Baylor - R.Griffin III may win them a game or 2 this year.
11. Texas A&M – Improved this week, even though they lost by 28. An opportunistic did them, but the offense and defense both took strides with young guys in the game.
12. Iowa State - Letting KU comeback will haunt this team.
