Jerrod Johnson Isn't Worried About Turnovers
According to Sherman, Johnson wasn't shaken by his 5 turnovers against Baylor, which is why he didn't pull him for Stephen McGee at any time in the game. While I am one of Jerrod's biggest fans, I thought we needed to sit him for one series and let McGee come in and play, if for no other reason to let Johnson watch what was happening from the bench. You aren't going to win many games when you have 5 turnovers, and the turnovers helped Baylor turn the game into a blowout.
At one point this season, Johnson had 18 passing TDs and 4 interceptions, for an 18:4 TD to INT ratio. Now, Johnson has a 20:10 TD to INT ratio. In the last two games, Johnson has 2 TDs passing, 2 TDs rushing, and 6 interceptions. We really need to fix that if we hope to have any chance at all in being competitive in Austin.
It isn't Johnson's fault when Jeff Fuller fails to catch the ball and tips it to the opponent for an interception, but many of those INTs were Johnson's fault. He needs to tighten it up. I do think his struggles this season will pay dividends in the future, however. I'd rather he make mistakes now and learn from them than in his junior and senior seasons.
Johnson arguably hasn't had a good game since the Colorado game, where he struggled in the first half, but threw three TD passes in the third quarter. I wonder if part of that is we're facing the noticeably better teams in the Big 12 South instead of the weak sisters of the Big 12 North. I also wonder how much injuries on our offensive line, forcing us to move guards to tackle, has hurt us. Our offensive line has been a weak spot all season long, and injuries haven't helped our cause at all. ur running game has suffered, and now so is our passing game. When you can muster only 308 yards of total offense against Baylor, you have issues. Hopefully we can get things in gear and be a little more respectable against texas. We have a bye week to give the players some time off, and then come back and get ready to beat the hell outta texas.

the fact that Johnson does not have PTD is a credit to him at this point. I have never seen a QB face more pressure than Johnson has faced this year.

O-lin is terrible.
Our o-line is atrocious the poor kid has no chance to sit back and throw. He is running for his life on every single snap. Anybody that thinks that McGee should play is a fool. Ever since Arkansas St, this season has been about next year and Sherman knows that. The development of Johnson will ultimately decide if Sherman sinks or swims here. Sherman knows that Johnson’s progression is the key to success next year.
May God help us against UT. Orakpo and Co. are just going to punish us and take two years of frustration out. I don’t think Mack will call off the dogs either. They need style points in order to stay ahead of OU in the BCS, if there is a three way tie in the BCS, and to boost McCoy’s stats. I really don’t see anyway that we will even be competitive. If the game was at Kyle Field we might have a chance. The way our defense is playing and how bad our o-line is it will get ugly really fast in Austin on Thursday.
Don't hate the playa, hate the game homie.

mcgee
i think they should start mcgee in this game….the season is pretty much over and i think it would be a sign of respect for what mcgee has brought to A&M football. (even though fran ruined him)
i agree JJ is the future QB @ A&M but at the same time i think mcgee brings toughness to this game which is needed and might just spark the offense.
as well i think coach sherman wrote a letter to mack brown and asked if they could play flag football rather than tackle to help our defense out.
"Hey, I think it's easy for guys to hit .300 and stay in the big leagues. Hit .200 and try to stick around as long as I did; I think it's a much greater accomplishment. That's hard."-- Bob Uecker
