Recruiting Note

With Plano's Rex Burkhead committing to Nebraska, the Ags will now focus on one RB. Christine (pronounced Christian) Michael from Beaumont Westbrook is the number one ranked RB in the state and the focus of the Ags attention at the position. In my opinion Michael is the only true RB among the nationally ranked backs from Texas this year. Chris Whaley will likely end up at LB for tu. Dexter Pratt looks like a future FB to me. Michael has the ideal size and speed to step on the field and help the Ags out immediately. His presence would lessen the loss of Michael Goodson's early defection for the NFL. If Sherman and co. can land Michael and convince Michigan transfer Sam McGuffie that A&M is the place to be, we should be set at the position for the next four years.

Michael would be nice, he is a great looking RB,

but IMO the most important thing for the Aggies left in recruiting this year is to land safety Craig Loston.

He is the top rated safety in the country and would start along with Trent Hunter from day one.

Loston has narrowed his choices to A&M and LSU. This “coin-flip” decision could be pivotal to the turnaround of our program.

McGuffie wants to be at A&M

whether A&M offers him a spot will be the question.

I think the Aggies will wait until Jan. when C. Michael makes his announcement to decide on McGuffie.

I have a feeling that the Aggie coaches have told C.Michael that they are not going to take on another RB.
But if C-Mike takes his services to another university, then I would expect us to offer McGuffie.

we will see.

We want McGuffie and have let him know as much. The question is whether there will be space for him. As it is, we cannot fit him in for the spring so he will have to count towards this years class, hence the numbers crunch. I agree that Loston is the most important recruit butMichael is 1A. Loston could start at corner next year if we needed him to.

The question is whether there will be space for him.

I agree with you, I didnt properly explain myself.

man

loston would be a GREAT pickup. Would also ease some thoughts about Shermans recruiting. Not to mention if Sam came back. I understand he did great things at Michigan.

McGuffie was good at Michigan. He is visiting Aggieland right now. Supposedly the visit with Christine Michael went well last night.

Recruiting always excites the fans

getting Mcguffie back and getting the number one safety prospect? I’m getting a little jittery myself. Right now we have a ranked recruiting class I believe. If we can finish in the top 20, I will be even more jittery for the next couple of years.

the problem is...

we have been ranked highly a few times over the last several year and that hasnt helped us yet.
Dont get me wrong, i would be estatic to land C-Mike or Loston (CL would be choice #1)

but coaching up the talent is the #1 factor for success.

Hopefully with the success of J.Fuller, T.Hunter…Sherman can sell early success
