Aggie Women Dominate SFA, 77-36
The Aggies routed Stephen F. Austin by 41 points Wednesay night as they won their seventh consecutive game, making this the best start by a Lady Aggie basketball team in school history.
Junior Elonu's little sister, freshman Adaora, had a career-high 17 points, and grabbed 6 rebounds. Tanisha Smith had 13 points, as did superfrosh Sydney White.
The Lady Ags are now ranked #4 in the Coach's Poll, the highest ever ranking for our women's basketball program, breaking our previous record of being ranked #5 last week. Gary Blair also led the Lady Jacks to a #4 ranking when he was a coach there during the 1991-92 season (he was the head coach at SFA from 1985-93).
The 41 point victory is the Aggies largest margin of victory this season, and the 36 points scored is the fewest points they've given up in a game this season. The most important stat in this game to me is the 36 points given up, because it means we're getting the job done on defense. A hallmark of Blair's teams is their defensive intensity, and holding the opposing team to 36 points certainly exemplifies that intensity. The Lady Jacks were held to 25% shooting for the game.
Blair was inducted into the SFA Hall of Fame at halftime of the game, in appreciation for his career at the school from 1985-93.
