New look for the Aggie Defense this year
Joe Kines has the Aggies operating a multiple attacking scheme with a variety of fronts. So far this season, I've seen some 4-3, some 4-2-5, and a lot of 3-3-5, or 33 Stack. The aggressive nature of the scheme we're running (and the learning curve inherent in learning a new scheme) means we're going to see lots of big plays, both for and against us.
Aggies come out in a basic 4-3 on UNM's first series. Notice the 9-3-1-8 alignment of the defensive linemen.
On the third defensive series of the game, A&M switched to a multiple 30 look.
Here is a more traditional 33 look. Notice the NT shaded strong.
The new scheme will require patience from our fanbase. I like what I'm seeing so far from Kines, so I hope Aggies everywhere will be patient, and give him time.
While we're not anywhere close to Wrecking Crew standards yet (latest has A&M ranked 11th in the Big 12 in total defense), I believe Kines will get us there.

I’ve been a longtime BON reader (as an aggie) and have watched the 12th manchild come and go over the years, I’m glad you’ve joined in the fight for a good aggie blog.
TAMUABBINPO (or however he spells it) puts out great stuff but I’m glad SBN will have a great aggie blogger.
Love you stuff on BON BTW
