Dirty Dozen Rankings

This is my first weekly ranking of the Big 12 teams. This is simply where these teams stand right now, based on who they have won and lost to. I expect these rankings to change dramatically once conference play begins.

  1. Oklahoma: The best team in the conference, by far.
  2. Missouri: Might field the most explosive offense in the conference.
  3. texas: Youth at safety will causes them to drop in conference play.
  4. Colorado: Maybe year 3 will be good to Hawk?
  5. Oklahoma State: Defense is as bad as offense is incredible.
  6. Texas Tech: Lack of defense means they will lose to Okie State.
  7. Kansas State: Wonder how good they really are.
  8. Nebraska: Undefeated record is nice, now go play someone.
  9. Kansas: Ugly loss to South Florida, last season was a fluke.
  10. Baylor: Robert Griffin makes this team watchable.
  11. Iowa State: Not showing progress yet under Chizik.
  12. Texas A&M: It was Arkansas Freaking State!!!!

Notes: I don't think anyone in conference can touch Oklahoma right now. Missouri doesn't have the defense needed to stop them, and texas' youth in their secondary means another blowout loss may be waiting for them in Dallas. Colorado looked good against Colorado State, looked poor against Eastern Washington, and will get a chance to show they've improved by beating a ranked West Virginia team tonight. Oklahoma State looks like they will win conference games in offensive shootouts; this is why they'll beat Tech. Ruffin McNeill was incredibly overrated in the off-season. Kansas State remains an enigma. Nebraska is undefeated and needs to rest up from feasting on cupcakes before they face an average Virginia Tech team next weekend. Kansas showed in their loss to South Florida that they have yet to find a running game. Robert Griffin gives Baylor fans a reason to see them play. He might even win some games for them this season. Iowa State still has yet to show me anything. We already know about A&M and their loss to Arkansas State.

Come on now. We only lost to them once! It’s not like we lost both games of a home and home.

I think you got the kansas schools reversed

I think kU has some decent talent, especially on offense and will won some games. k-state however, they looked pretty rancid for much of the evening against a mediocre Big East team

I also think you have CU too high right now…tonight will show more though.

Kansas has yet to show a running game

I think they’ll have at least 3-4 losses this season, if not more.

and you dont think kSU will end up more than that?

I mean…they have zero defense…I am not sure I see them at .500 at this point.

I think your rankings are pretty accurate for right now. I expect tu to lose to either Tech or OSU, maybe both.

38-30

add in Missouri and OU

and I think texas will have 3-4 losses this season

Problem with Okie State is that they can be up on texas by 40, and still find a way to lose the game.
