McGee's injury not as bad as originally thought
According to the SAEN's Brent Zwerneman, Stephen McGee has a "bruised shoulder", with a possible "slight separation".
McGee might be able to come back and play against Miami, given the two weeks we have to prepare for the game.
This will be the first serious test for Sherman and his coaching staff. McGee is an experienced player, and may give us the best chance to win against Miami. However, Jerrod Johnson is healthy, and played well in leading us to a win over New Mexico. McGee is our present, Johnson is our future. Who will start against Miami will be very telling as to what our staff's goals may be for this season. If it is McGee, I believe we are trying to win now. If it is Johnson, I believe we're trying to build for the future.
I don't think we have a QB controversy brewing here, but if McGee starts, and play poorly, all bets are off.

I want to see what our coaching staff can do with Johnson.
With the issues our OL is having, a rollout package may be a necessity.
I know it may be anathema to them, b/c they are from the NFL, but a zone read series wouldn’t hurt, either. Our QBs are mobile, we should take advantage of that fact.
I have been surprised by the lack of rollouts in our gameplans. You would think that with the mobile QBs we have (and the suspect OL) we would see a lot of bootlegs and rollouts. Course, I also expected to see a lot of passes to the RBs and TEs. Hopefully we will see more of this against Miami.
