Oklahoma State Game Positives

You know, it is really sad when I have to continue to post things to be positive about when we're already out of football season. I think we all thought we'd have some things to be happy about in basketball season, but apparently not.

Our 72-61 loss to Oklahoma State shows that we still have a lot of work to do if we want to be even considered a decent team, much less a good one. The loss also highlighted concerns voiced on here before about lack of team play, lack of offensive identity, and questions about coaching. This thread is for positives from the game, though, so we'll leave analysis for later.

  • Junior Elonu had a career game, with 20 points, 12 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal.
  • B.J. Holmes had 19 points to go along with 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. Holmes scored 7 points as we came back from 14 down in the first half, 30-16, to close it to 2, 32-30.
  • Donald Sloan had 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
  • Dash Harris had a nice drive where cut through traffic and laid the ball in.

That's it. Those were all the positives for the game.

Our next game against Baylor at Reed is going to tell us a lot about this team. I am sticking with my original prediction, though, and I think we start the season 0-2.

rough game to watch

as i watched the 1st half and saw us get down 18 pts i thought the game was over then as we slowed the pace we began to come back which i enjoyed but to see okst speed up tempo and increse the lead again it was frustrating.

Josh Carter needs to step up and show some senior leadership. he needs to make plays with the ball in his hands, when you are supposed to be the star of your team and finish a tough game on the road w/ “0” pts then something is wrong.

i enjoyed watching elonu play with emotion which is something nobody else on the team is doing. as well dash harris and lebeau looked good when they were on the court.

i blame this loss on turgeon and until the team starts playing with some sort of emotion/enthusiasm then i will blame it on the coach not getting the best out of his players. thats why i think giliespe had sucess here. with this talent if they do not make the tourney this year i say goodbye turgeon.

"Hey, I think it's easy for guys to hit .300 and stay in the big leagues. Hit .200 and try to stick around as long as I did; I think it's a much greater accomplishment. That's hard."-- Bob Uecker
