What's up with Aggie Ball?

Is it just me or has it been impossible to get a read on this team after their non-conference schedule.  Beergut has done a great job covering the games and I'll admit I've only watched a few, but where is this team going?  I suppose our best win is Arizona and they aren't even ranked.  With only one senior (Carter) we weren't porjected to do a whole lot.  Let's see if we can make a splash in the beginning of conference play.  I don't want to be the team that starts out 14-1 and then loses 5 out of 7.

Our first game is @ OSU on Saturday.  This should be a win although it won't be easy (as if any conference games are, especially road games).

Baylor at home will be a very good test.  It's possible we might both be ranked and fighting for third place in the south.  Winning this game and OSU would almost certainly push us into the polls.

OU at home.  This and UT at home will be our biggest home games of the year.  OU is fighting for a conference title and possibly a national title.  Huge game.

Next two games are on the road vs. Kansas and Texas.  Brutal.  Playing OU, KU, UT in a three game strech this year is going to be almost impossible, especially with two on the road.  Winning in Kansas is essentially impossible without the heroics of Acie.

If we can win three out of our first five then this team will be a legite team later in the year.  Any more than that would mean road wins in Austin or Kansas.  Beating OU on Saturday the 17th on national ESPN TV would be a great game.  Not to mention then beating Texas a week later.  Hey, Arkansas did it!  I'm excited to watch this team and maybe go to some games.

Here's to not geting screwed by the refs again in the tournament!

Okie State is a key game

If we step it up and play well in Stillwater, I like our chances.

The easiest part of our schedule is the back-end, so it is possible we may start slow and finish fast.

I agree

That will be a big test. The Alabama and Arizona games were solid wins and great for our nonconference schedule/RPI, but if we can go 8-8 with a few solid wins – say, vs. UT, at OKST, at BU, I think that’s a ticket to the tournament. Hopefully.
