Oklahoma Game Review
I'm not sure if there is too much to say about this game. We gave up just under 250 yards rushing (248) and just under 400 yards passing (392) to allow 640 yards of total offense in what was easily our worst defensive performance of the season. If you can't run the ball (we had 59 yards rushing on the night), and you can't stop the run (we sure as hell didn't stop their running game), you can't win football games, and we didn't do either Saturday night. We did a fairly abysmal job of not doing either Saturday night.
Offensively, we didn't protect Jerrod Johnson enough to give him a chance to get comfortable and move the through the air and on the ground. Our problems on offense were exacerbated by turnovers, especially the fumble on the first drive that led to OU's first touchdown of the game (granted, that was a blatant facemask where the defender tried to rip Christine Michael's head off, and the refs completely ignored the foul, which would have negated the fumble and score, but whatever). Oklahoma has a terrific defense, and we didn't need to help them by turning the ball over, but we did. We moved the ball okay in the first quarter before all hell broke loose in the second quarter, but that was the only bright spot for our offense.
I'm really most disappointed with our complete inability to handle adversity. This is shades of the Kansas State game and the Arkansas game, where we are unable to overcome mistakes early, and let it effect our play the rest of the game. This is another set back for this team; we are not moving forward and improving, we are standing still or digressing. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to come out in the second half and play loose, because at that point, the score didn't matter, we just needed to go out and have fun. One of the most frustrating aspects of this team is its inability to put mistakes behind it, and keep playing the game.
That is really all I have to say about this game. What is your opinion?

Hopefully we respond like we did after the KSU game and go out and pound Baylor

I stopped watching when it was still 21-10. Checked the score at halftime and it was suddenly 42-10. Both teams were making lots of mistakes while I watched it. Looks like OU solved their problems though. A&M is just an immature team. They’re young, inexperienced, and don’t handle adversity well. I’m guessing they don’t handle being on the road well right now either (with the exception of the performance at Tech). Turn overs, penalties, dropped balls, bad throws (saw JJ try to thread the needle into multiple coverage more than once). I am also forced to question the coaching once again. I wonder how well they react to adversity as well? I won’t mention the officiating – that’s just something that has to be dealt with by all teams.

Cant we just play a simple game and gain 4 to 5 yards with each play in such situations.
I dont see any short passing or screen passing game at all. If the offense cannot stay on the field for more than 2 minutes how long do you expect a weak defense to hold.
