Around SBN: How A Letter From Tom Coughlin Helped One Fan's Recovery

Redshirt freshman OL Rhontae Scales was arrested 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the Northgate bar district.

On the bright side, at least he wasn't driving and "texting" anyone, and he didn't hit an apartment building.

I like players to show aggressive tendencies, although my preferred position group to have assault charges pending against them would be linebackers. We won't have to worry about Rhontae developing a mean streak, though, so that is one problem we can put to bed.

You're so right,

Accidents are so much worse than assault.

Let's ask the chick whose apartment Kindle crashed into

would she rather Kindle have parked there, or Scales beat the crap out of her.

As to Kindle “drunk driving”, it’s bullshit on your part and you know it. I’m not even asking for innocent until proven guilty, just innocent until charged with a crime.

Can’t wait for Thursday.

poor analogy
would she rather Kindle have parked there, or Scales beat the crap out of her.

She wasn’t there when Kindle ran into her apartment, so unless you’re tlking about Scales fighting a ghost in an empty room, there is no comparison. There has been no indicaton Scales “beat the crap out of” anyone, just that he was charged with misdemeanor assault. If he had really housed someone, the charges would have been more serious.

As for the drunk driving, if you really believe he was just ‘texting’, then pulled his car out, then went home, you’re either incredibly naive or very stupid.

by Beergut on Nov 24, 2009 2:29 AM CST up reply actions

Your ability to apply double standards is legendary.
there is no comparison

My point exactly.

If he had really housed someone, the charges would have been more serious.

So if it’s an Aggy, they’ll be charged according to what they did, but if it’s a Texas player,

you’re either incredibly naive or very stupid

if you believe the legal account of what happened. Get over yourself.

by ctex80 on Nov 24, 2009 8:24 AM CST up reply actions

There was no drunk driving....

You seriously are just ass-backwards. Comment on the aggy player who made a mistake. And don’t go talking like you know what happened that night in Austin. Were you in the car next to Sergio?

Typical aggy

I did comment on Rhontae

and as for Sergio, read my comment to ctex80.

The only people who think he was just ‘texting’ when he hit that apartment are either incredibly naive, very stupid, or very deeply in denial.

is that really you in your profile? why so grumpy?

by Displaced Longhorn on Nov 24, 2009 11:58 AM CST up reply actions

Unbiased reporting...

Well done. Something bad happens with an A&M player, and you somehow try and divert attention to an accident that has nothing to do with that aggy player or incident.

Now, you aren’t obsessed with Texas right? Why else would you bring up Sergio Kindle?

by prince8846 on Nov 23, 2009 1:30 PM CST reply actions

While what Kindle did was obviously dangerous and stupid...

Playing off the fact a member of your football team assaulted another individual doesn’t exactly scream accountability on behalf of your blog or the team.

by Boarder on Nov 23, 2009 2:38 PM CST reply actions

it isn't up to me to hold Rhontae accountable

Given what I’ve seen of Mike Sherman so far, I have no problem believing appropriate action will be taken, and the situation will be handled.

by Beergut on Nov 23, 2009 6:13 PM CST up reply actions

If this had been Kindle or any other tu starter, the victim woulda already signed an affadavit stating that he had tripped and fallen into the players fist, then received his payoff in the mail.
It is misdemeanor assault. Big freaking deal. Sorry if I don’t freak out about a guy who has never played a down for us, acting like a 19 year old on a weekend night.

No reason to freak out...

Accidents happen, no doubt.

I just love though how aggys are so obsessed with Texas that they have to include a reference to something completely irrelevant.

My dad had an interesting comment today on the image of your institution putting it this way:

“A&M is like the Palestinians of college football, they just want someone to hate instead of being proud of who they are”

Yea you are so proud of all your traditions, and maybe you should keep it that way and leave it there. I really feel bad for you aggys, as you fail to realize that posts like this further reinforce the notion that aggys #1 priority is hating Texas. After that, maybe they win a few games, who cares, as long as they let Texas know that aggys don’t like them.

What an embarrassment to our great state.

I think

that saying Palestinians only want someone to hate is greatly oversimplifying a complex culture, and really isn’t a good analogy for a college. So maybe daddy needs to think a little deeper and try again with out insulting an entire nation of people. His statement is much more intelligent and informed if you just read from the comma.

Yet

It is more humorous the way he said it. And it’s a joke. Obviously…

by prince8846 on Nov 24, 2009 10:53 AM CST up reply actions

So

You think its ok to joke about a race of people being so simple-minded that they just want someone to be angry at? Its not a joke its racism.

by the12thman11 on Nov 24, 2009 11:58 AM CST up reply actions

I would argue that it is more prejudiced than racism, but we are talking semantics. Sips posting on an A&M blog about Aggies being obsessed is the definition of irony.

Kindle did exactly what you should do if you wanna beat a DWI wrap. Leave the scene of the accident and talk to the police when you are more sober. He got away with it, so be it. It is a rivalry and we will make fun of every tu misstep. Obviously DJ Monroe didn’t learn from Kindle’s great leadership.

Awww, mikey,
Sips posting on an A&M blog about Aggies being obsessed is the definition of irony.

Your dictionary sucks.

He got away with it, so be it.

And Jerrod Johnson got away with murdering a drifter in Wisconsin back in 2004. He did exactly what you should do if you want to beat a murder wrap. He got the hell out of Wisconsin, left no trace he was there, and enrolled in a nondescript agricultural school.

Oh yeah,

I forgot that he was never charged. But it happened. I can’t prove it, and he’s got a perfectly reasonable alibi, but I really think that’s what happened. And if you don’t, then you’re either incredibly naive or very stupid.

by ctex80 on Nov 24, 2009 2:15 PM CST up reply actions

Also, hate to double post,

but are you still thinking that A&M will win on Thursday? Just curious.

by ctex80 on Nov 24, 2009 1:32 PM CST up reply actions

JJ is even smarter than I thought. I suppose there are witnesses who can put JJ at the scene of the crime crying and stating, “I just ruined my life.” Only sips would be stupid enough to try to seriously claim thatAugust. Kindle was really just texting, but most of us knew that would happen back in August.

by miketag on Nov 24, 2009 6:01 PM CST via mobile reply actions

The point still remains...

Why was Kindle referred to in this post? Because aggys are obsessed! Why else would beerbelly mention him in the post?

To be able to say, “Look our dude made a mistake, but but but ITS NOT AS BAD AS THE TEXAS MISTAKES!”

Thus, bringing up Texas once again.

I’m headed to CS tomorrow morning to go to the game, should be nuts. Never been to Kyle Field before, looking forward to all the empty seats by the 3rd quarter. Anyone else going?
