That's Aggie Commit Mister Jones To You

The Aggie football program hosted 17 recruits on their official visits this weekend, and one of them was Littleton HS (CO) RB Mister Jones, a Colorado commit. The four star running back changed his commitment after he returned home, and decided to commit to Texas A&M. His commitment gives the Aggies their eighth four-star commitment in the 2010 class, according to the rankings Rivals.com uses.

Jones stands 6'2, weighs in at 205 pounds, and runs a 4.5 forty, per Rivals. Jones is a power back, and tries to run through people more than he tries to run around. Jones' video shows him to be a powerful runner who will make a nice addition to Cyrus Gray and Christine Michael in the backfield as we head into the 2010 season. Fellow RB recruit Ben Malena of Cedar Hill (TX) HS will also be vying for playing time in 2010.

The SB Nation Colorado blog, The Ralphie Report, is not happy about this development, as you can imagine. Jones is one of their top commits, and the failure for him to stick with the Buffs is seen as a further proof that Dan Hawkins isn't getting the job done in Boulder. Jones had 149 carries for 1097 yards (7.4 yards per carry), and 15 TDs during the 2009 season. He makes a nice addition to our recruiting class, as Mike Sherman continues to do well in recruiting as he rebuilds the Aggie football team.

Now the question is what happens to Denison power back DJ Jones who is also around 6’2 220? Jones was considered an Aggie lean. We really need to get another DT and a couple CBs.

Will he even play?

He is listed as a 3 star recruit elsewhere. I haven’t taken the time to research him at all, but I wonder why he would pick A&M where we are pretty set at RB for a while. We obviously have 2 great ones now. Christine will be here for probably at least 2 more years as our #1.

Of course he can redshirt and see but it seems like a non-factor.

Also, why do we keep recruiting excellent RB’s? Even Fran had great running backs. I wish we could be known as a defensive school and pull in great DBs finally. We need em.

Of course, Fuller and EZ have improved our WR core more than anyone dreamed in his first year.

Well, we did bring in like 5 DBs last year. I’ll stick eith Sherman on this one. He’s not going yo offer a RB like that if he doesn’t have a plan for how to use him

We need a power back to pound it from inside the 10 yd line. Mister Jones may be that guy.

if he can just remember to PROTECT THE BALL.
