beergut et vs hunter

do you remember at the beginning of the season you said that trent hunter is better than earl thomas and that he is the 2nd best safety in the country. After this season do you still feel that way after thomas got a 1st round grade and runner up for thorpe as well as all american

This is one of my pet peeves, as well.

If you can’t come up with 75 words, don’t create a FanPost. Create a FanShot, or if you’re just going to troll one of the authors without adding any useful or pertinent information, just don’t create anything at all.

I believe I have already addressed this issue

specifically when I looked at the all-conference team

Hunter has more tackles, Thomas has more interceptions.

Thomas’ finish in the Thorpe voting is irrelevant, because it is an award given for best defensive back, which can be safety or cornerback, not just best safety. Ever since Aaron Ross won the Thorpe, I have questioned the legitimacy of that particular award.

your safeties should not be #1 on the team in tackles.. good for hunter, bad for A&M.

agreed

although that can depend on the opponent’s offensive scheme and the defensive scheme you run

in a defense like what OU ran with Roy Williams, your safety is going to get a lot of tackles

if you face an option offense, your safety will get a lot of tackles

In general I would agree, but I have seen excellent safeties who had high tackle numbers on great defenses. I thought Hunter had a down year overall but played great in the bowl game.
