Recruiting Has No Holiday

The Aggies received a commitment from Blinn DT Jonathan Mathis. Mathis is 6'3, 292 lbs and has a 30 inch vertical jump. That means he's a very large person who is also very athletic for his size. Mathis is rated as a 4-star prospect by Rivals, and a nice pick-up at a need area for the Aggies. Mathis was a 3-tech at Blinn, and I expect to see him play there are A&M.

Mathis was also being recruited by Arizona, Kansas State, Texas Tech, and others.

With the recent commitments of D.J. Jones and Mister Jones, Mathis makes the third four-star commitment for the Aggies in recent weeks. Sherman & Co. are certainly doing well on the recruiting trail.

He has good size and will have experience against better players from juco over freshman. I prefer rivals over scout and take more stock into their evaluations and ratings. But scout is still a credible source and they have him as a 2 star. That is the only thing that worries me.
