Aggies Defeat Prairie View A&M, 84-59
A sluggish start led to A&M being down 15-6 early, but behind a career-high 17 points from true freshman Khris Middleton, including consecutive three-pointers in a decisive 18-4 run to give A&M the lead at halftime, the Aggies were able to prevail in convincing fashion, beating Prairie View 84-59. Middleton was one of four Aggies to score in double-figures; Donald Sloan had 11 points, fellow freshman Naji Hibbert had 11, and Derrick Roland finished with 10.
Bryan Davis finished with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Nathan Walkup had a similar line, with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. David Loubeau had 7 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. I know we are a fairly guard-centric team this year, but I'd like to see more production from our interior, especially from Davis and Loubeau.
Middleton finished the night 4-8 from beyond the arc; it was his first game to score in double-figures this season, along with Naji Hibbert. Hopefully, this performance marks the light going on for both of these players, and they will begin to contribute more in wins. I am hopeful this isn't just them showing up an overmatched opponent.
The Aggies next game is Friday against Akron at Reed Arena.
