New Blog: Once A Metro covering Red Bull New York!

For once, the Heisman voters got something right, as Ndamukong Suh will be invited to New York as one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy, which will be presented Saturday in New York.

As the most dominant college football player in the nation this season, Suh deserves to win the Trophy, but since he is a defensive player, he will likely have to find solace in just being a finalist. I'm not sure the Heisman voters are ready to have a defensive player win the award for the second time since 1997, when Michigan's Charles Woodson won it (and Woodson was a standout kick returner for the Wolverines, which made him appear more dynamic). Putting Suh among the Heisman finalists and acknowledging him as one of the year's best players is a small step in the right direction, though.
