Aggies Get Second Quarterback Commit

Reports are officially out now about A&M receiving their second quarterback commitment in Dickinson QB Clay Honeycutt. Honeycutt is 6'2, 185 lbs and has started parts of the past two seasons after injuries to the starting QB. Honeycutt is coached by Warren Trahan, a former defensive tackle for the Aggies.

Trahan says they intend to use Honeycutt at both QB and WR this season, although he is unsure what position Honeycutt will play at A&M. With his size and athleticism, he makes me wonder if we have another possible Ryan Tannehill on our hands, someone who can play WR and be a backup QB for us. Looking at his HS stats, since he hasn't had a season where he has completed 50% of his passes yet, I am inclined to believe a position change may be in his future.

I am always of the opinion that you can never have too many athletes on your team, though, so I am happy with this commitment.

Honeycutt joins Jameill Showers, a dual-threat QB from Killeen Shoemaker, as the second QB commit in the 2010 recruiting class. Wth Honeycutt and Showers, we now have one dual-threat QB and one pro-style QB committed in this class.

A&M now boasts three commitments for the 2010 recruiting class.

Boast

I appreciate your optimism, but I find it difficult to “boast” 3 commits when t.u. has already reeled in 19.

And I agree, I think Honeycutt will definitely be switching positions.

Like I said, I like your optimism…one reason I read your blog :-D

I do not think Sherman would have offered him if he did not think he could get it done at QB.
