Ags Pick Up Three Football Commits
A&M had a great res[onse to their junior day on Sunday. The Ags picked up commits from RB Ben Malena (Cedar Hill), WR Malcolm Kennedy (Cayuga), and LB Domonique Patterson (Dallas Skyline).
Malena is listed at 5'10, 205 lbs. I am guessing he may be a little shorter than that since their seems to be some questions about his height. He rushed for over 2000 yds and scored 35 TDs as a junior. It is nice to get a foothold into Cedar Hill, since we have been shut out there in recent years.
Kennedy is a 6'0, 190 lb WR from Cayuga. He had 47 receptions for 762 yds and 10 TDs as a junior. He is a legit 4.6 guy who has great leaping ability and body control in the air.
Patterson is a 6'0 210 lb OLB from Skyline. He had 11 sacks as a junior. He is exactly what we need to help turn our defense around, a playmaking LB who in two years will be a 220-230 pound maniac flying around field. Patterson has a lot of speed, which is what our defense desperately needs.
I know some people will question the addition of Kennedy because of his apparent lack of "breakaway" speed. Those people need to realize that first off, Ryan Tannehill runs a legit 4.6 and all he did was break half the A&M receiving records last year. Secondly, Sherman and the staff are not going to make reaches in March. If we are offering these kids a scholarship in March before their junior year ends, then that means that the coaches know they are high D1 recruits who do not need further consideration. If there was any concern about them, we could wait until after they attend the summer camps, or a few games into their senior season before we offered them. If we are offering them now, then our coaches view them as can't miss type prospects.
