What I Expect To See At The Spring Game

I will be attending the Maroon & White Game tomorrow and weather permitting, we will have one. I expect to see two things. I expect to see Jeff Fuller dominate on offense, and Von Miller dominate on defense. Fuller should dominate against our secondary that features one scholarship CB in Terrence Frederick. Justin McQueen is a track guy who has reportedly shown promise this spring, but he is no match for Fuller. The only thing keeping Jerrod Johnson and Fuller from terrorizing our defense is a patchwork OL we will throw out there.

Johnson may find himself running for his life (he should be used to that by now) from Von Miller because injuries have forced the coaches to mix and match just to find a starting unit. Our backup center, Danny Baker, has seen increased playing time at LT. I am for this move as it has allowed Michael Shumard to stay at his natural spot at LG. Leroy Chevalier and Josh Ayers have been injured and unable to make headway at the LT spot. Reportedly, Baker has shown some promise at LT and may compete for a starting spot there during two-a-days. Miller had 5 sacks in the last team scrimmage so evidently, despite Baker's promise, the edge is still vulnerable.

What I would like to see is an improved running game with Cyrus Gray and Bradley Stephens keeping the front 7 honest on the other side of the ball. I would like to see Johnson make good, quick decisions with the ball. I would like to see a healthy Trent Hunter out there showing everyone why he is one of the top safeties in the country. I would like to see Matt Allen show that he is ready to contribute at RG in the fall. I would like to see Rod Davis show some of the promise on the field, that made him one of the top DT recruits in the country in the class of '08. Most of all, I would like to see improved speed on the defensive side of the ball after a year spent in a S&C program that was devoid of Fran's "bench press is all that matters" philosophy.

If there is a game and the cell phone towers are willing, I should be able to give you live game updates on this blog from my iphone.
