Ags Pick Up Two Big Commits
Mike Sherman landed a bigtime OL today when Luke Joeckel (6'6 280 lbs) from Arlington High committed to the Ags. Joeckel is one of the top OT prospects in the nation. Joeckel's commitment, in addition to commitments from Klinke and Ogbuehi, has shored up a huge need position at OT. These three tackle prospects should even our roster out a little when they arrive in Aggieland in the Fall of '10, because we have a lot of natural centers and guards on camus right now. We need some natural tackles.
The Ags also landed Luke's twin brother, Matt Joeckel. Matt is a 6'4, 220 pound QB who passed for over 3000 yards with 29 TDs last year. With his commitment, I am assuming we will take a serious look at moving Clay Honeycutt to another position. We may just let Showers, Honeycutt, and Joeckel fight it out at QB and whoever does not make the top two moves to a different spot. I am never going to argue against adding quality athletes to your program.
This was a huge day for Sherman and the staff because it shored up a major question mark on the OL. According to Billy Liucci, we may see another commit before the weekend is out. Right now, we have 10 commits in this class. Ideally, I think you want to enter the sumer with no more than 12-13 commits because you are going to find athletes at the summer camps who can help you, and you want to leave room for prospects who burst onto the scene as seniors.

I love these Joeckel commits!
This is from a purely selfish perspective.
The head coach at Arlington High was my freshman basketball (yes, basketball) coach at Arlington Martin.
From all accounts around the area, these are two great kids who desperately wanted to play college football together and that dream is in the process of becoming a reality, which is fantastic.
