Aggies Receive Commitment From Rowlett DE
Rowlett DE Damontre Moore committed to Mike Sherman and the Aggies during a visit this weekend. Moore is listed at 6'6, 222 lbs, has been timed at running the 40 in 4.74 seconds, has a 28 inch vertical leap, and a 4.51 second shuttle time.
Moore has the ideal size and speed we want from defensive ends. At 6'6, he has the frame to put on another 20 lbs of muscle, without losing any speed. At 6'6, 240-245, he would be perfect for the hybrid roles we want our defensive ends to play in Joe Kines' scheme, able to put his hand down and play a 5 tech in a 4-3, or play OLB in a 3-4. Moore played weakside DE at Rowlett, and I expect him to play a similar role at A&M, and possibly work as a drop OLB in the 3-4.
Moore was also looking at Nebraska, TCU, and UNLV, but we were the first school to offer him. The fact that we are offering him this early makes me think the coaching staff really likes what they saw in Moore, and wanted to snag him while they had the chance.
Moore is the Aggies' twelfth commitment in the Class of 2010, and the fourth of this past weekend.
