More t-sip delusion

T-sip assistant coaches are getting bonuses based on their fake conference title in '08. These people simply cannot let it go. OU was the better team at the end of the year. Be happy you faced a mediocre Big 10 team in your bowl game instead of someone from the SEC. Stop whining!

...like Alabama?

Really? Don’t hate just because you can’t even smell BCS games. I guess 12-1 is something that happens to you every year. Hell, even schools like Texas don’t go through seasons like that often. Maybe you should look in the mirror before calling people “delusional”.

the way y'all played against a mediocre Ohio State team

I wouldn’t be calling out Alabama or anyone else. Y’all damn near lost to the team which is the closesy thing to a lock in BCS play.

Ohio State has been blown off the damn field in BCS bowls the last three years, EXCEPT for the year when they play texas. Your “incredible” team needed a last second game-winning drive to stave off the upset.

Do your coaches really deserve bonuses for finishing ranked behind Utah?

by Beergut on Apr 7, 2009 2:52 PM CDT up reply actions

you mean undefeated Utah?

The same Utah that destroyed a big bad team from the ess eee cee..? If we’re gonna put their teams on a pedestal, then might as well put the team that beat the 2nd best one up there too..no? Utah’s really the ones that got screwed in the MNC game scenario.

So, to sum up, yeah I guess they do considering many people expected a multiple loss season (as many as 4), so I see no reason why not.

so, for exceeding expectations

they deserve to receive bonuses?

does the athletic department take back money in years which they underachieve?

Jealousy rears its ugly head....

Your athletic department would cream its pants if the Aggies had a 12-1 football season….as a matter of fact, your football team has only reached 12 wins one freaking time. Thats because its a very hard thing to do.

You guys barely beat Army last year, and you have the stones to say “we barely beat Ohio State”…..yea, we BARELY won a BCS game……you ags are unbelievable and pathetic…

it has nothing to do with jealousy

the only team I am even slightly jealous of is Florida, b/c they have the crystal ball trophy I’d like A&M to have

It appears your athletic department DID cream it pants (and paid the coaches for the experience) after q 12-1 season last year.

Any way you look at it, paying out bonuses and putting up signs for a game you didn’t play in, much less win, is pathetic. Day after day, texas is just making it easier and easier to ridicule them.

sweet

You keep ridiculing, and we will keep winning…try not to have another 4-8 season…its embarrassing…

Hmm...

Is it worse for our Coaches to receive a small bonus or your AD to be the third highest paid in the Big 12?

by NeTexHorn on Apr 7, 2009 5:33 PM CDT reply actions

I would not call it deflecting.

I was merely trying to point out the fact that not every athletic department spends money the way we think they should. Also, it is not like they took the money out of the general scholarship fund to pay the coaches their bonuses. With the athletic department being self-sufficient I assume they can hand out the funds and call it whatever they want. If an extra $5,000 for Muschamp gets me 12-1 with a win in a BCS game, then I say go for it. I’m sure all fans would trade the cash for the Fiesta Bowl win.

by NeTexHorn on Apr 7, 2009 9:26 PM CDT up reply actions

it is deflecting

you are ignoring the issue at hand (your athletic department paying out bonuses for winning a game your team didn’t even play in) by pointing to an issue in another athletic department (Byrne’s exorbitant salary).

The issue at hand has nothing to do with WHERE they took the money from, it is the fact that THEY WERE PAID A BONUS FOR SOMETHING THEY DIDN’T ACCOMPLISH. That is pathetic any way you look at it.

The tiebreaking that decided who would play in the title game

was something that the coaches had no control over. Therefore, the athletic department decided that they deserved the bonuses. What’s delusional about that? The only thing delusional around here is anyone who thinks that the Aggies still matter in college football. And to think, the Aggies don’t even have scoreboard any more. What a pathetic existence.

regardless

you don’t give bonuses for accomplishing something that never happened.

The tiebreaker doesn’t change the fact that texas didn’t win the Big 12 because they didn’t even qualify to represent the Big 12 South in the conference championship game. It is delusional for the texas athletic department to think they are Big 12 champions just b/c they won regular season games over OU and Missouri, and for them to award bonuses based on a non-existent championship.

Hell, while they’re at it, why don’t they give themselves an asterisked national championship? The bar has been set, you don’t have to actually accomplish anything at texas anymore to claim it, and long as you have a * after it.
