Ags Lose Ugly Game, 6-5, To OU
Oklahoma completed the series sweep in an ugly 6-5 win over A&M. The Ags gave up four unearned runs on four errors in the game. Barrett Loux lasted only 1.1 innings, giving up 5 hits, 3 runs, and 1 walk as he took the loss.
The Aggies faced five pitchers, striking out seventeen times while amassing nine hits.
Coach Childress was not pleased:
It was a disappointing weekend to say the least. We had an opportunity to win this series without question, looking at Friday and today, we just didn't get a hit with runners in scoring position. And today, when you strike out 17 times and make four errors, do you really deserve to win? We didn't deserve to win."
We now move on to the Big 12 Tournament, where the Ags face Missouri on Wednesday. Childress says the team is ready:
This team is ready to move on into a new season. The regular season is done and over with, and we are where we are. But believe me, we're going to Bricktown to win a championship and move on next week into the postseason. That's what this team has been waiting on since last June. Now that we're in the postseason, it's time for us to put our money where our mouth is.
Hopefully, our performance there will make up for our poor play in the regular season.
