Big 12 South Head Football Coaches In 2012
Picking who you think will win each division in a conference, and who will be the conference champion is overdone; every college football blog has an opinion on how next season will play out. However, we here at I Am The 12th Man believe in staying ahead of the curve, so we've decided to debut a new feature: predicting coaching futures. We all know who will be the head coach of each program in the 2009 season, and some may even think they know who will be the head coaches in 2010, but do you know who the coach of Oklahoma State will be in 2012? What about Baylor? Looking into our crystal ball here, we're taking a stab at which new (and old) faces we'll be seeing on the South Division sidelines in 2012.
Texas A&M: Mike Sherman will still be the head coach of the Aggies in 2012; his seven-year guaranteed contract virtually assures us of this. However, heading into his 5th year in the program, I think Sherman will be talking extension, after two banner years in 2010 and '11.
texas: It will come as no surprise to anyone when Mack Brown decides to hang up the whistle, and hands the reigns over to head-coach-in-waiting Will Muschamp in 2011. The deal texas gave Muschamp after last season designates him as the heir-apparent; the only question now is when he will take over. Another two seasons at the helm of the texas football program (and another loss or two to Oklahoma) will be enough for Brown to decide it is time to step down.
Oklahoma: Bob Stoops will still be the head coach of OU in '12. While rumors continue to swirl around about him leaving for Notre Dame, the NFL, the Intergalatic Football League's expansion Mars franchise, and others, Stoops will continue to win in Norman. Another conference championship in '10 keeps Stoops hungry for more.
Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State's new head coach will be named following the '11 season, after Mike Gundy retires due to health reasons (too much caffeine causing heart murmurs and other complications). Gunther Brewer will be Okie State's new head coach, with Bill Young as his assistant head coach.
Texas Tech: Mike Leach will be the Red Raiders head coach in '12, but not for a lack of trying, on his part Despite throwing his name out there for every job opening following the '11 season, no other schools wants the Pirate. After consecutive 5-loss seasons in '10 and '11, this includes some of the Tech faithful, but Leach's '08 contract extension comes back to bite them in the ass, and they are stuck with him.
Baylor: Todd Graham will be enterting his second season in Waco, fresh off a 7-6 campaign in '11 that included a bowl win. Graham is hired following the '10 season, after Art Briles leaves to take on the Miami Hurricanes rebuilding job. After losing senior dual-threat superstar Robert Griffin to the NFL, Graham needs to rebuild the offense. Early speculation centers around redshirt sophomore Case McCoy leading the offense, after McCoy's transfer from texas. Graham needs to find some defensive ends to shore up his defensive line, which was decimated by injuries and graduation following the season.

Dream on Aggies, You will still suck.
2 banner years? Yeah Right… 5 wins in 09, 6 wins in 2010. that is of course, if you can manage to beat the baylors in the “battle for the brazos”, a heated rivalry.
