Griffin really is just speculating about possible problems in the A&M Athletic Department, but he is right about one thing: A $204,000 raise for Bill Byrne is just ludicrous.

Keep in mind this raise wasn't after winning three national titles recently in men's and women's outdoor track and men's golf, this was after the botched firing of Franchione, and two losing seasons in the previous six years of football.

$Bill had done nothing to deserve a 42% raise, but I guess the Board of Regents were too busy basking in the softball program's College World Series Finals appearance to realize it (Jo Evans, our softball coach, was hired by Wally Groff, Byrne's predecessor).
