Aggies Win Close One Over Colorado, 67-63
The Aggies moved to 13-5 on the season, and 3-2 in Big 12 Conference play, after four late free throws from Donald Sloan and a key rebound-and-dunk from Bryan Davis sealed the deal. The Aggies were a horrible 2-23 from beyond the arc on the night, but were able to stay in the hame thanks to some tough work on the boards; they outrebounded Colorado 38-28, including a significant edge in offensive rebounds, 14-8. The Aggies had three players score in double-figures, with Sloan leading the team with 18 points, while Nathan Walkup chipped in 16, and Bryan Davis added 12. Davis also had 9 rebounds and 3 blocks in a solid all-around effort.
Colorado almost pulled the upset and ended their road losing streak in Big 12 Conference play (32 games long now) behind double-digit effort from four players; Alec Burks had 19, Cory Higgins had 19, Austin Dufault had 13, and Dwight Thorne II had 10. Colorado obviously did the job on their perimeter defense; what hurt them was their inability to stop our inside game, and keep us from getting second-chance points off of rebounds.
The Aggies next game is Wednesday in Stillwater against Ohlahoma State.
