Next Up: New Defensive Line Coach

Now that we have hired Tim DeRuyter as our new defensive coordinator, our next order of business is to hire a defensive line coach. Given that the defensive line has underachieved in the last two seasons under Buddy Wyatt, I am interested to see who we bring in. Early on, I thought Phil Bennett might be a candidate to be our new DL coach, but now I'm not so sure. If he was the guy we were going to hire, I think a deal would have already been made, and he would be on our staff now. I have heard Purdue DL coach Terrell Williams might be a candidate to become our new DL coach, but I haven't seen anything to back that up; it is just rumor at this point.

Whoever our new DL coach is, I hope he is hired soon. The sooner we get him in here, the sooner he can get to know the players and begin building relationships that help the team on the field and in recruiting.

Terrell Williams interviewed this past weekend along with another candidate. I expect to have the DL coach announced this week.
