Texas Tech Preview

The men's basketball team plays Texas Tech tonight in Reed Arena at 8 p.m. in a game that will be shown on Fox Sports Southwest. The two teams sport identical 14-6 records and 3-3 marks in conference play. Since we are playing at home, it is imperative we win and defend home court. The Ags swept the season series last year, but lost to Tech in the Big 12 Tournament when Mike Singletary went crazy and scored 43 points.

Let's take a look at Tech's personnel:

Star-divide

The Red Raiders are led in scoring by Singletary, John Roberson, and David Tairu. If Dash Harris controls Roberson and we rotate Khris Middleton and Nathan Walkup on Singletary, I think we'll be okay. Robert Lewandowski on Bryan Davis inside is a mismatch I hope we can exploit; Lewandowski has a height advantage on Davis, but Bryan is stronger and a better scorer and rebounder, so I hope we feed Davis the ball inside early and often.

I think Tech has improved from where they were last season, but I think we are a better team than they are. If we want to play in the postseason and go to the Big Dance, this is the type of game we need to win. A win against A&M will make Tech's season and count for a quality win for them, so they'll be playing hard. We just need our crowd to get into it, and hopefully the students will lead the way with it being Fan Appreciation Night.
