Do The Aggies Deserve To Be Ranked In The Top 25?

The Aggies have won four consecutive Big 12 conference games, including two games on the road, to improve to 7-3 in conference and 18-6 overall. With a win over ranked Baylor team and a nice road win over Missouri in Columbia, snapping their 32 game home win streak, the Aggies are making a good case to be ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation. As of last weekend, we were in the Others Receiving Votes category; if you equate that position to rankings, we were #26 and #27 in the nation in those respective polls. It stands to reason that after our wins over Baylor and Texas Tech, we will move into the rankings this week. With a Big Monday game at home against Kansas coming up tomorrow, our move into the rankings would seem fortuitous to ESPN, because now they are showing a game featuring two ranked teams.

Given the way we play defense, I am inclined to say this is a top 25 team. I am normally always in favor of our basketball team being ranked, because I like seeing our highlights on television, and I enjoy the media coverage being ranked entails. However, I like the way we've been playing lately while we haven't been ranked, and I want that trend to continue. If being an unranked team helps us sneak up on Kansas, I'm all for it. We have games against Kansas a road game against Iowa State to see if we are worthy of being ranked as a top 25 team.

What do you think?

I think after we became the first Big 12 South team to win in Lawrence the other year, we will never be able to sneak up on Kansas.
