Uh Oh!

where’s nelson?

This is why I don't post here much.

Nothing constructive or worthwhile about this thread’s discussion whatsoever. Just Longhorns being jerks.

by FuturePants on Feb 3, 2010 11:07 AM CST up reply actions

the only reason you’re pissy is because it’s hard to bash Texas for reeling in the #2 class while you’re losing recruits left and right… if the tables were turned you can be sure you’d be over on BON or whatever blog you frequent and bash Texas’ plight.

by Displaced Longhorn on Feb 3, 2010 11:31 AM CST up reply actions

No

It’s because I don’t bash UT, just to be a dick. I may say that Colt McCoy doesn’t deserve the Heisman Trophy, but that is hardly bashing.

by FuturePants on Feb 3, 2010 11:59 AM CST up reply actions

So poking fun at your rival is being a dick… sensitive much?

by Displaced Longhorn on Feb 3, 2010 12:59 PM CST up reply actions

Sensitivity has nothing to do with it.

I’m simply pointing out a reason why I suspect this site doesn’t have many regular posters. The majority outside of Beergut and Miketag seem to be UT and TTU people just being jerks. The fact that you acknowledged that you are one of them raises a question about your sensitivity.

by FuturePants on Feb 3, 2010 1:02 PM CST up reply actions

not sure how me being a jerk, or acting in such a manner that you deem as being a jerk, means that i’m sensitive. or even “raises a question about [my] sensitivity.” tell me the logic behind that one.

by Displaced Longhorn on Feb 3, 2010 1:13 PM CST up reply actions

Sure

Let me spell it out:

1) people who are not you are jerks in this thread.

2) I reply to people who are not you and say they are being jerks for no purpose.

3) You reply, getting defensive about me suggesting that the other people in this thread are being jerks.

4) If you weren’t a jerk on this site yourself, you obviously would not have assumed that I was talking to you, but as you did make that assumption, you obviously are a jerk here.

5) Your response, in itself, conveys far too much sensitivity to a post that was not directed to you, nor was it in response to anything you had said.

It’s either sensitivity or a seriously inflated sense of self importance.

by FuturePants on Feb 3, 2010 3:01 PM CST up reply actions

i’m tremendously important, and self centered, and a jerk

by Displaced Longhorn on Feb 3, 2010 3:08 PM CST up reply actions

Hilarious!

Fan-freaking-tastic. I mean that.

by FuturePants on Feb 3, 2010 3:20 PM CST up reply actions

So...

because there are rival fanbase posters on this site (cry me a river, there are plenty of other people on UT, Tech, OU, and other sites) all the Aggie posters on this site left? Or there weren’t that many to begin with, and suspect reporting and bias has not led too many others to join.

by Hobbes881 on Feb 3, 2010 8:09 PM CST up reply actions

Nah

It’s just exhausting, is all. It makes the threads a real beating.

by FuturePants on Feb 4, 2010 8:59 AM CST up reply actions

HAHAHA

You think WE’RE jerks? Why don’t you look at what Beergut said in some of the DTN archives. Not many Raiders come over here very often. Most of us stay in DTN land unless we’re

a. playing you
b. keeping up with recruits
c. checking on anything else that pertains to us

by techfan5730 on Feb 3, 2010 4:39 PM CST up reply actions

Actually

Plenty of DTN posters were here on this board all season til A&M beat Tech down in Lubbock. That shut most of you up pretty quick.

by FuturePants on Feb 4, 2010 9:00 AM CST up reply actions

Colt 45!

He only retired from College as the winningest QB to EVER play the game.

I’m guessing you would be down with reggie mc neal for Heisman if he had even sniffed Colt’s jock.

by stllonghorn on Feb 3, 2010 2:40 PM CST up reply actions

He only retired from College as the winningest QB to EVER play the game.

That and $5 will get you a cup of Starbucks coffee. It is funny so many texas fans celebrate this one little factoid about McCoy; maybe it is b/c there is nothing else they can really say about him that stands out. Face it: McCoy had a so-so senior season where he didn’t come close to meeting expectations, and he wasn’t even the best QB in the conference, forget the nation.

by Beergut on Feb 3, 2010 10:26 PM CST up reply actions

I would say

He came one game away from meeting expectations. That’s pretty close to me. Regardless, 45 wins and the second most accurate passer in college football history is something to hang your hat on. Of course, Kellen Moore will most likely break that record if he stays in school. It must be nice to play in the WAC.

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

by kriess on Feb 4, 2010 12:48 AM CST up reply actions

If Jerrod Johnson

If Jerrod Johnson somehow was the winningest QB in college football history, or Stephen McGee, you would celebrate as well. And if for some insance reason you would not, would you find it humorous if other Aggies were celebrating that? Come on dude.

And I think outside of Colleyville, most people would agree Colt was the best QB (to play almost every game) in the Big 12. Yes I know about JJ’s stats, but when it was clutch time, Colt got it done, JJ did not. Ease up on Colt, he was a great football player, an even better human being, and someone worthy of respect, no matter what college you are a fan of.

I have great amounts of respect for Sam Bradford, and felt horrible when the guy went down with an injury. I wasn’t rushing to make up some name for him that made fun of him for his injury, and I never understood why Aggies thought Cart McCry was so clever.

by Hobbes881 on Feb 4, 2010 4:11 PM CST up reply actions

I'm making fun of him

Not of A&M. I think what he did was a real bush-league move. Fobbs was even worse due to the manner, although losing him ought not sting nearly as much.

I actually hope Nelson experiences a curse similar to the Mack Brown one, which has haunted guys like Perriloser.

by burntorangehorn on Feb 3, 2010 11:48 AM CST up reply actions

This is more of a reflection on Nelson

than on the ags. And this is why when recruits commit to Texas, Mack says no more visits. You get these clowns who proclaim themselves as “Mr. A&M” then sign with the gooners.

by Hobbes881 on Feb 3, 2010 12:30 PM CST up reply actions

It’s a pretty common thought that A&M is the backup school for many kids who see if they can go somewhere better but want to secure a spot at a decent school for the time being…. Nelson kinda reaffirms that belief, whether it’s true or not.

by Displaced Longhorn on Feb 3, 2010 12:52 PM CST up reply actions

In any case it's a dick move and I hope he fails his classes and can't play

…though I wouldn’t put it past oklahoma to play him anyway

TEXAS FIGHT

by Darklust on Feb 3, 2010 2:42 PM CST up reply actions

common among whom?

is this like texas being a backup school for Ahmad Dixon, until he could get a better offer from Baylor?

by Beergut on Feb 3, 2010 10:28 PM CST up reply actions

HA!

Yes, it is the EXACT same thing. It’s hard to be the savior of a program when you commit to Texas.

*Note: I had read something along the lines saying Dixon wanted to build a national powerhouse at baylor. Above is just pure speculation. I would also speculate that when he committed to Baylor, then to Tennessee, and then decommitted, his scholarship offer at Texas was no longer available.

From what I have heard about this guy, sounds like a Corey Nelson type, one that most programs are better off without.

by Hobbes881 on Feb 4, 2010 4:15 PM CST up reply actions

If you are thought of highly enough, you can take visits after you have committed to tu.

I don’t think the Mr. A&M comment was a bad one. He basically said as much. it is a shock to lose him, but such is life. He is probably a better fit in the OU defense anyways.

by miketag on Feb 3, 2010 1:54 PM CST reply actions

it has just started, and we are only going to get better. think you guys are going to be able to find a running game this year?

by miketag on Feb 3, 2010 3:21 PM CST up reply actions

If not

I guess running the table and going to the national championship game is good enough.

by Hobbes881 on Feb 3, 2010 8:08 PM CST up reply actions

In any case, you guys got f-d.

The hell I want to ever see players leaving the state or getting scooped up by o who.

TEXAS FIGHT

by Darklust on Feb 3, 2010 2:40 PM CST reply actions

Forget Nelson

I think Sherman did just fine – the Aggies recruited a really good class of kids and I am glad for them and the conference in general.

Mr. Music Pants is correct – most of the commenters here are fans other than aggys (where is the school loyalty?). Actually, that is the only reason I visit here – trashing of aggys is an intramuaral sport at THE UNIVERSITY!.

I will even put up with Mr. Music Pants hyper-sensitivity and beer guts chauvinism just for a few yucks.

As far as YOU, Mr. Mike Tag, I suspect that UT will find a running game long beore the aggys find a defense!!!!!!!!!!!!

by kriess on Feb 6, 2010 10:03 PM CST up reply actions

No offense taken

I was just trying to be cute – without UT commenters here this blog would be boring.

Also, Mr. beergut, chauvinism is implied when you denigrate and demean me when I state that I grew up in a football family (which, by-the-way I still feel exposed me to more football than you) – at the very worst, you imply that I wasn’t intelligent enough to understand the ‘game’ even though I had such exposure. Don’t give me any hogwash that you would have said that to a man because I don’t believe that anymore than YOU do!
This also goes along with your PERSONAL attack on me as a business major whereby you just couldn’t “understand” why I’m am so inept with the english language OR sentence structure – once again implying that I am stupid!
And, as one of your classy aggy commenters has said – I don’t get my panties in a bunch over this because I understand you are an aggy and these kinds of condescending and inane remarks are to be expected.

Finally, and here is a shock for you, I actually love your band, traditions and the fact that the corps has sent so many fine men AND women to the military and I don’t believe there is a longhorn fan in Austin that wouldn’t secretly agree.

Finally, and not just because I have so many wonderful friends at A&M, I truly hope that Sherman will be allowed to stay and develop a competitve program at A&M. The the school needs to return to previous respect, the conference needs it and the rivalry between A&M and Texas would be fun again. Besides, it would allow UT’s ownership of the aggys to become a better credential for The University! :-)

Hook ’em!

We will have a decent defense this year. It will be good to great in ’11. As long as Applewhite is your RB coach your running game is gonna stink.

by miketag on Feb 4, 2010 1:06 AM CST via mobile up reply actions

Applewhite isn't the problem

It was more of the scheme and the personnel we had. But if you would like to continue thinking that, I guess you will be pleasantly surprised soon.

by Hobbes881 on Feb 4, 2010 4:17 PM CST up reply actions

what do you want to bet?

I'm guessing TLP is out of the picture right?

by kriess on Feb 6, 2010 10:04 PM CST up reply actions

lol

You don’t even know me – yet you felt obligated to demean and insult me and when it was returned in kind you had a little pissy fit = hyper-sensitivity!
