Random Signing Day Musings
My pick to be the biggest bust of the '10 class is Auburn RB recruit Michael Dyer. Just do not see what everyone else sees in that kid. Seems like a nice enough kid so I wish him well, just do not see what all the hype is about.
Who is the bigger sucker, ESPNU for televising 17 YO kids who want to talk about where they are going to college, or me for watching it?
Biggest signing day surprise for me was Da'Rick Rogers decommitting from UGA and committing to Tennessee. Looks like Tennessee won the bidding war. Rogers was the one kid who really stood out to me during the UNder Amrour game practices. Figured he would team with AJ Green to make the UGA QB look great next year. Guess he will play for some coach named Dooley at Tennessee instead.
IMO Jackson Jeffcoat underachieved in HS. Will be interesting to see how Coach Boom M'er can motivate him. I think M'er may be the best DL coach in the nation and is a hell of a DC. My bet is that Jeffcoat ends up at DT and becomes a star for tu. If Kheeston Randall and Lamarr Houston can be made into great DTs, then M'er should do well with Jeffcoat.Case McCoy was the QB Sherman really went after once Showers had committed. Makes me wonder what Sherman saw and the recruiting experts did not. Kinda similar to the way Colt McCoy was overlooked by a lot of people.
OU is gonna have 30 signees by my count. Guess Stoops is taking a page out of the SEC playbook. Sign 30 kids per year including 4-5 OL and DL eac year. If too many qualify, then convince them to greyshirt or just worry about sorting it out later.
UTEP got a steal in Skyline QB Javia Hall.
Still do not understand what tu sees in Adrian Phillips.
Surprised to see Baylor's lack of impact in the DFW area.
Have seen a lot of top rated studs go to Florida the past few years. Some are saying that this Uf class is the best recruiting class of all time. Seems to me that a lot of the highest rated guys struggle under Meyer while the lesser rated kids excel. We will have to wait and see how this all works out.
Jimbo Fisher has made FSU relevant in the recruiting world again.
I really doubt that the #1 rated QB in the nation will have much of an impact at Alabama. Was not overly impressed when watching him. On the other hand, I expect Nick Montana to do very well at Washington.
Anthony Wallace was probably the best football player I saw all year. He should be a top 10 player in the state in 2011.

I heard about UF class being the greatest ever
And now according to Rivals USC has jumped them for the best class this year. So by default is this the greatest class of all time? These rankings can be fun to look at and discuss, but anyone that has any type of football knowledge knows it’s pretty much up in the air as to how these kids will turn out.
Interestingly enough, Scout still has UF at #1 and USC at #5. Of course they have OU at #2, which pretty much voids anything they say. OU has a very solid class, but not the #2 class.
Though I don’t like the way they treated Bowden, I do hope FSU can get relevant in their state again. Partly because I’ve always kinda liked them, and partly because I really don’t like Meyer.
Skyline had 4 players verbally commit and then go back and change their minds. Guess we need to keep that in mind when recruiting players from there.
might as well skip anthony wallace
