Aggie Women Defeat Unbeaten Nebraska, 80-70
The Texas A&M women's basketball team defeated previously unbeaten Nebraska, 80-70, in a game that quickly became no-contest for the distaff Aggies. A&M led by as many as 18 points in the second half, as Nebraska star Kelsey Griffin was stuck on the bench for much of the game, saddled with foul trouble. Nebraska was unable to stop the Aggie offense, with the team shooting 51% in the first half, 54% in the second half, and 53% from the floor for the game. The Aggie defense held Nebraska to just 37% shooting from the floor for the game. The Aggies had three players in double-figures, led by Danielle Adams' 22 points. The Aggies dominated Nebraska on the boards, snagging 46 rebounds to Nebraska's 32. Nebraska was just simply unable to stop A&M's offense, while the Aggies were able to clamp down on defense, and that was the story of the game.
To put this win in persepctive, it is a big win for the team, a win that would be on par of the men beating Kansas this year. Congratulations are in order for the women's team, but they now need to get ready for the Big 12 Tournament Championship, a game in which they will face the winner of the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game. It is always nice to beat a top 5 team, though (Nebraska was ranked #3 in the nation), so congratulations, ladies.
