Aggie Baseball Wins Final Home Game, Defeats Kansas State 3-2
The Aggies defeated Kansas State, 3-2, on the strength of an 8th inning home run by Joe Patterson and clutch pitching by Clayton Ehlert and John Stilson. Ehlert went 7 1/3 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 earned runs while stirking out 4. Estevan Uriegas went 2/3 of an inning, finishing up the 8th inning for Ehlert by getting a foul out and a strikeout. Stil then came in and closed out the ninth inning, going strikeout, groundout, and strikeout to end the game.
Patterson went 2-2 for the game, getting all three of our RBIs to provide the offense for our win. With the win, the Aggies win the series over Kansas State, 2-1. It is always nice for the seniors to go out with a win.
The Aggies finish theregular season 36-19-1, 14-12-1 in conference play. We finished 4th in the Big 12 standings, that 1 tie game putting us just below third place Kansas State, who finished 14-12. As the #4 seed in the conference, I believe we will fac #5 seed Texas Tech on Wednesday as we begin Big 12 Tournament play.
