Men's Basketball To Add Transfer Guard
Elston Turner, formerly a Washington Huskie, will be transferring to Texas A&M, sitting out next season, and then will have two years of eligibility remaining. Elston played in all 36 games for Washington last season, starting three, while averaging 15.3 minuter per game. Turner went to Washington out of Fort Bend Elkins HS in Missouri City, and was rated the #14 shooting guard in the nation by ESPN, and a top 100 national prospect by Scout.
Elston averaged 5.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in 2009-10. He shot 41% from the field, and 38% from beyond the arc. At 6'4, 205 lbs, if Elston can workon his rebounding, I think he'll fit well on our team. He played the 1 for three seasons in high school before becoming a 2-guard as a senior, so he is comfortable handling the ball. Elston's father is Elston Howard, Sr., an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets, which I'm sure played a part in us having an in on recruiting him.
We need a nickname for him, because if we just refer to him as 'Turner', people will confuse him with Ray Turner. ET seems too obvious, so I'm open to suggestions.
You can see Turner at 33 second mark
