Aggie Baseball Tops Missouri, 7-2, Advances To Big 12 Tournament Championship
The Aggies used a strong pitching effort by Barret Loux and timely offense from Joe Patterson, Kevin Gonzalez, and Brodie Greene to defeat Missouri, 7-2 at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. With the win, and texas' loss to Texas Tech today, the Aggies advance to the Big 12 Tournament Championship Game on Sunday.
Joe Patterson went 2-4 with 1 RBI on the day, Kevin Gonzel went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, and Brodie Greene went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks to pace out offense. Starting pitcher Barret Loux was perfect for his first five innings, not allowing a base runner until the 6th inning, and holding Missouri to 6 hits and 2 runs with 7 strikeouts on the night in 7 strong innings. John Stilson came in and pitched two shutout innings of relief, giving up no hits and 1 walk as he fanned 2.
The Aggies face texas Saturday at 12:30 PM as they continue pod play. Regardless of the result of Saturday's game, the Aggies are in the Championship Game because they hold the tie-breaker over both Tech and Missouri (head-to-head play). We could know our Sunday opponent as early as tomorrow. I believe if Oklahoma defeats Baylor, and Kansas defeats Kansas State, we will face OU on Sunday.
