Carolina Panthers fan here about Jordan Pugh
Alright, hook us up with the deal on this guy. Carolina drafted him in the sixth round (202nd overall). What are his strengths and weaknesses? I'd ask if you think he'll make the team (assuming any of you know anything about our safeties), but all he really has to do is beat out the free agent pickup from the 49ers, Marcus Hudson, who was also a sixth round pick coincidently back in '06. Although, he was drafted 192nd overall. This is all assuming Carolina only keeps 4 safeties, which isn't written in stone. Thanks folks.

solid in run support, decent in coverage
we tried him at CB before moving him back to safety
He was a good safety for us, unfortunately he played on some poor defenses.
Cool 'nuf.
Thanks.

has good speed
tok very poor pursuit angles throughout his career. best game he ever played was the last of his career against UGA. ran down everyone.
Well, you all make him sound quite lame. Super. I did this with some of our other lesser known rookies, and the fans of those college teams talked up their players something epic. You all sound depressed about the guy.

I am going to tell you the truth
he is a good kid but was never a great football player for us EXCEPT in that last game. I don’t know why it took so long for the light to go on. He has all the tools. To be completely honest, I think our safeties will be much better this year now that Pugh has moved on.
Well, I guess that means Carolina will be picking up a safety after the other teams’ final cuts.

I think Pugh can play in the NFL
his problem was we changed coaching staffs while he was here, and I think it took us a while to get him into the right position and for him to become comfortable there. IIRC, he was here during at least three different scheme changes, from a 4-3 to a 4-2-5 to a multiple odd-front 3-3-5. It isn’t always easy to learn your responsibilities in new schemes, especially when you are moved to different positions.
I think that is more of an indictment of our coaching staff and our administration than it is of him as a player.
I thought there were two draftable seniors
on our team last year, OG Michael Shumard and TE Jamie McCoy. I just do not think Pugh is an NFL player. We shall see. Ron Flemons hung around long enough to earn a pension and I never would have predicted that.
