Opinions On New Football Marketing By Athletic Department?
Anyone who has recently gone to AggieAthletics.com, Texas A&M's athletic department homepage, has undoubtedly seen the new splash page featuring Jerrod Johnson and Von Miller, along with links to highlight videos, ticket packages, and the 2010 football season schedule. The splash page and links are part of the athletic department's newest attempts at marketing to sell tickets for the upcoming Aggie football season. While I highly recommend the video highlight page (great videos of Jerrod, Von, Christine Michael, Uzoma Nwachukwu, Jeff Fuller, and Cyrus Gray), I am curious as to what everyone else thinks of our latest marketing efforts.
While I am not thrilled with the need to name our ticket packages (calling an open buffet and cash bar located in the lobby of the McFerrin Athletic Complex "McFerrin's Club" seems a little bit much, and calling the nosebleed seats at the top of the Zone the "Flyover Zone" is just asinine), I can appreciate that the athletic department is trying to add value to the ticket packages. We have some of the most expensive tickets in the nation, and if the athletic department wants attendance to increase, they're going to have to give Aggies more amenities at the games. I do applaud them for the decision to create the Family & Friends Zone, because a family of four can afford season tickets for $800, and this is a $200 discount from what those same seats would have cost last season. One of my bigger complaints about our out-of-control price increases is that it made it difficult, if not impossible, for families to come and watch Aggie football games, and this package shows the ticket office and administration is at least listening.
What do you think of the newest football marketing by the athletic department? Like it? Hate it? Will it cause you to buy season tickets now?

Flyover Zone
I see what they were trying to do, but that is a naming fail for sure.
