Missouri fan here
I'll be traveling down from Kansas City to the MU vs TAM game OCT 16. I just wanted to get some information on a few things. Below are just a few questions that I can think of now. Please feel free to add more to it. I'm looking forward to this trip and planned it after the entire scare of the Big12 being picked apart and I wanted to see my team play here for a few years now.
- Where are the must see places
- Where are the must eat places
- How is the atmosphere in the stadium? A Oklahoma fan told me years ago it was one of the best places that he has seen a game
- When should I get my tickets? The same OK fan told me something about a ticket board down there but this was years ago so I don't exactly remember the details. Can someone fill me in if you know what I'm talking about
- How are visiting fans treated in the stadium
- How's the tailgating before the game
Thanks for any information you guys/gals have. The g/f & I are looking forward to making this a nice weekend road trip

NICE
First of all, you’re really going to enjoy CS and Kyle Field for sure. I would reccomend getting your tickets as soon as you can just in case, could be a big game for both teams.
Depending on when you get to College Station, a few things to check out:
Our Bar district Northgate is located on the north side of campus and is basically just a bunch of bars/clubs it’s pretty fun. There are different bars for all types of people so finding a place that suits your “style” shouldn’t be hard.
If you are in on Friday night, some people like to go to midnight yell the night before the game at Kyle Field. For midnight yell a bunch of Ags go to the field and ‘practice’ yells from the yell leaders, the yell leaders also tell goofy stories about the visiting opponent. While it may be a little much for someone who isn’t an Aggie Fan, a lot of visitors like to come see what it is all about (it doesn’t last long).
Other than northgate and midnight yell you can find a little coffee shop in CS and find some acoustic music if you want to chill (like Muldoons or something). You can also go to Downtown Bryan for a more “chill” bar experience.
If you want to eat at a traditional Aggie place to get the experience you can go to Northgate and have burgers at Fitzwillies or the Dixie Chicken. On Texas Ave you can also go to a chicken place called Layne’s. Those places are really good but there aren’t many ma/pa joints to eat, there is a lot of chain stuff.
The tailgating before the game is fun. It isn’t going to rival big SEC schools but it is a fun time and a welcoming atmosphere. If you walk up to any tailgate you should be okay to chill or you can find a spot on your own.
Regarding fans, Kyle Field is probably one of the better atmospheres for away fans as Aggies try to be respectful to visitors. You can definately cheer for your team but don’t be super obnoxious just to be safe. I’ve seen many games where after losing, Aggies would wish the visiting fans a safe drive home. Unless they go to Texas.
Also, if you are going to stay in a hotel, the earlier you reserve a room the better because the hotels can sometimes be hard to get on gameday weekends.
Have fun in Aggieland.
Although they have spread through many cities in Texas, Freebirds at Northgate is a good eating experience. Enormous burritos stuffed with grilled meats and veggies, rice, beans, cheese, etc, and a selection of sauces and salsas.
It has been several years since I hung out in CS, but I always enjoyed the pizza rolls from Gumby’s Pizza as a late-night, drunken snack.
There is a Gumby's Pizza
in Columbia, MO. I’m sure it’s not exactly the same

nice name
gotta love usernames named after running plays :-)
Places you need to go in order to say you had the full A&M experience:
-Freebird’s on University Drive
-Dixie Chicken at Northgate (these two are within walking distance a few doors down from each other, so kill two birds with one stone here)
-Bottle Cap Alley
-Double Dave’s Pizza (get the pizza rolls)
-George Bush Presidential Library and Museum
-Bonfire Memorial (if you have time)
-Midnight Yell Practice (we’re always welcoming to opposing fans)
We’re known for being friendly fans, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding someone to tailgate with. Just walk up to any A&M tailgate, tell them you’re from Missouri, and just want to hang out and talk football before the game; you’ll be welcomed with open arms.
yeah
I would recommend Layne’s over Double Dave’s. I will also say hit up North Gate in general if you enjoy bars and drinking.

How is the atmosphere in the stadium?
I can’t remember when Kyle Field was NOT ranked the number one “game-day atmosphere” in all of college football by ESPN. It’s also always in the top 5 “must see” stadiums in the country.
During the game, the Aggie fans will raucously support their team, and still try to respect the opponents. Somebody commented once that A&M and Nebraska fans were the classiest in the country, if that means anything.
