Questions For Big 12 Media Days

The 2010 Big 12 Media Days start Monday and run through Wednesday at the Westin DFW Airport Hotel this coming week. Fox Sports SW will be televising live coverage of the early sessions, and all sessions will be streaming live on Big12Sports.com. With two-a-days and Fall Camp beginning shortly, it is time to think about questions for the various coaches and representatives of the programs in this conference that will no longer be together in the same iteration after this coming year.

  • For Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M: Last season, A&M had three games where they scored more than 30 points (Oklahoma State, Colorado, texas) and still lost the game. Can you guarantee that won't happen this season?
  •  For Bo Pelini, head coach, Nebraska: This is your last season in the Big 12 Conference. What team do you want to beat the most this season? What team will leave you with the biggest regrets if you leave for the Big 10 having lost to them your last year in conference play?
  • For Turner Gill, new head coach, Kansas: Given Carl Torbush's previous record in the Big 12 as a defensive coordinator, and the complete annihilation of his defense every week utter implosions oh dear freaking god horrific play "struggles" his defenses went through, why did you think it was a good idea to hire him on at Kansas? Follow up: Did you watch his defenses at Mississippi State last season?

Star-divide

  • For Art Briles, head coach, Baylor:  Are you going to take Baylor to a bowl game this season?
  • For Paul Rhoads, head coach, Iowa State: After the upset win over Nebraska and bowl trip and victory in your first season in Ames, are you've worried you've prematurely raised everyone's expectations at Iowa State?
  • For Gary Pinkel, head coach, Missouri: After your loss to Navy in the bowl game, what have you changed about your program to make sure you don't get humiliated like that ever again?
  • For Bill Snyder, head coach, Kansas State: What is your biggest concern about your team heading into the season opener against UCLA?
  • For Dan Hawkins, head coach, Colorado: You're known for being a positive person. After the four consecutive losing seasons you've had at Colorado these last four years, what reason is there for Colorado fans to expect anything different this year?
  • For Mike Gundy, head coach, Oklahoma State: How many high school recruits initially recognize you because of your, "I'm a man, I'm 40!!" rant?
  • For Bob Stoops, head coach, Oklahoma: Given your recent struggles in BCS games, have you ever pondered whether your win over Florida State in 2001 was really just a fluke?
  • For DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma: Have you considered wrapping yourself in bubble wrap when you walk around campus to possibly avoid tripping on a sun ray and injuring yourself?
  • For Mack Brown, head coach, texas: With the renewed emphasis on the running game this year, can we expect a texas running back to break 1,000 yards rushing? Which one? Have you done any research into why your running game fell off a cliff ever since you made Major Applewhite your running back coach?
  • For Tommy Tuberville, head coach, Texas Tech: Are you ready for the wailing and gnashing of teeth that is going to happen the first time you have a game where you run the ball more than you pass it?
  • For Mike Sherman, head coach, Texas A&M: What do you think are realistic expectations for fans to have of Texas A&M's program every year? Do you think you will consistently meet or exceed those expectations every year, starting this year?
  • I am quite certain if I was allowed to ask these questions, I'd never be invited back to another media day. It would be worth it, though, just to force some of these coaches to avoid the same old "coach speak"-filled cliche-ridden press conference format.

What are some questions you'd want to ask your head coach or player/team representative if you could?

    for Mike Sherman, Texas A&M

“As you know, A&M’s last national championship came before World War II. What will happen first, A&M’s next national championship or World War III?”
