Steve Kragthorpe Stepping Down
Rivals dot com is reporting that Steve Kragthorpe has resigned as the coach of wide receivers at A&M. Someone in his family has a medical issue that's serious enough that he needed to step down from his coaching position. Apparently additional information will be released today during Big XII Media Day. Hopefully his family member will be fine. Here's a link to the article on rivals dot com (there isn't much more info at this time). http://tamu.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=425&tid=145347795&mid=145347795&sid=893&style=2

This is not good. At all.
Wasn’t he the “offensive coordinator” in some aspect. I know Sherman is calling the plays, but I thought Krag contributed a little as well.
Now our talented WR Corp is left with out a coach. This couldn’t come at a worse time.

Troy Walters Will Replace Kragthorpe
Turns out it is Kragthorpe’s wife who is sick. Kragthorpe says that he won’t be seeking a job elsewhere in hopes that once his wife is better A&M will have a coaching role for him.
Walters played at Stanford and for the Detroit Lions, is from the BCS area, and was lately the offensive coordinator at Indiana State. I don’t know anything about Walters but the hire is being widely praised on the Rivals message board. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Walters
Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts, too
Walters played at Stanford and for the Detroit Lions
sounds like someone who was able to surpass his limited athletic ability and lack of height by being fundamentally sound and running precise routes
perfect guy to coach the position
I went to the same high school as Troy Walters.
Hopefully this doesn’t hurt us too badly.
