Kalvin Guyton Leaves The Program

PrintRedshirt freshman RB Kalvin Guyton has decided to leave the program. Guyton was currently believed to be 3rd team on the depth chart at RB behind Christine Michael and Cyrus Gray. Guyton played very well in the spring game and I was looking forward to watching him this year. I thought he would especially help us catching passes out of the backfield. I believe this is a move that Guyton made because he wanted more playing time. I hope he finds success in some other program.

I wonder if Ben Malena was pushing him hard for the third spot?
Gray and Michael are basically co-starters, so whoever is second on the depth chart is going to see plenty of playing time. I’m disappointed, b/c I was really looking forward to seeing Guyton play. I liked what I saw of him in the spring game, and was certain we would be able to use him and Michael to hammer on defenses late in games.
I can understand his desire to see more playing time, but I wish he had given it a year to see how it worked out. In any case, I wish him the best, wherever he ends up.
