Looks Like We Dodged A Bullet: D.J. Jones Arrested
D.J. Jones, the former Denison RB who left the program after a brief stay this Summer, was arrested yesterday for domestic violence. Apparently, Jones pulled up in front of the Denison police station around 2 AM Tuesday morning, and began beating on his girlfriend. In.front.of.the.police.station. That is t-sip-bragging-about-beating-a-witness-in-jail stupid. We really dodged a bullet with this kid deciding he didn't want to do the work to be a member of our program. It may be a moot point, though, because Sherman most likely would have booted Jones after this incident anyway (see Adren Dorsey).
While speculation on here was that Jones went back to Denison because he was homesick, it appears now that his problems there will keep him there. Given the distraction an arrest like that could cause at this time of the year, I'm glad Jones made the decision to part ways when he did.

Dude...it is getting ridiculous
That is t-sip-bragging-about-beating-a-witness-in-jail stupid
Can you really not go a whole post without mentioning Texas?
I mean come on, this is a post about a kid who was once at aggyville, who has made some bad decisions. And you try to spin Texas in a negative light from this?
You’re really reaching bud.
you need go back and read the post again
this isn’t about texas, it is about a kid doing a monumentally stupid thing
that you think it is about texas shows the narrowness of your vision
But you managed to mention Texas in something that had nothing to do with the school.
Why?

It's pretty obvious...
Beergut doesn’t particularly like t.u. Neither do a lot of Ags. If this article offends you then by all means, refrain from reading future articles from iamthe12thman.
I’m pretty sure t.u. doesn’t have a 12th man tradition so the name of this blog clearly does not apply to you.
It doesn't offend me at all. It just baffles me.
I’m not a Texas fan. Tread lightly. Get your facts straight. Speak when spoken to.

The article does not offend me
Yet thank you for giving me permission to refrain from reading in the future.
And your argument is that since I didn’t go to aggyville, the blog doesn’t apply to me? If you even read this blog, you would know that there is as much Texas and other Big 12 coverage on here as there is aggy coverage.
And since you referenced the 12th man tradition, I by default say, “We don’t need a 12th man. 11 works fine for us.”
I was trying to come up with the monumentally stupid thing a college football player had done in the presence of the police
the “bitches must be kicked” episode at texas came immediately to mind
it has less to do with the school the player involved went to than it does the amazing lack of intelligence needed to commit such an act
Not the first one that came to my mind, but I see what you're saying.

I knew you would ask that, and I have absolutely no answer.

Man
I really like reading this blog for it’s A&M info. It gives excellent perspective (with a healthy dose of optimism) when it comes to the A&M sports programs (from recruits, to playcalling, to general coach/personnel info). And it does a good job of keeping those of us who don’t want to read texags in the loop. All that being said, you know he’s right. You throw negative texas crap out there all the time, every chance you get, even if what is being talked about has nothing to do with texas. It gets old quickly, and really makes your analysis and posts of anything that isn’t directly about A&M harder to read.

No. No it doesn't.
It gets old quickly, and really makes your analysis and posts of anything that isn’t directly about A&M harder to read.
You need to go back and read MY post again
Duh the post isn’t about Texas.
Why you mentioned Texas in a post about an ex aggy screwing up is what befuddles me.
Tragic.
Quite a few weeks for the young man. Hopefully he’ll sort himself and right the ship. I am interested to know the reasons behind such a collapse of character, but not sure we ever will.
Y'know how Longhorns always make fun of A&M for the War Hymn being about them?
I’m thoroughly astounded at the total insecurity of UT fans who literally police this blog to make sure nothing defames their beloved school. Grow up, Hobbes881. It was an off-the-cuff remark that was, at best, an attempt at humor, which you’ve managed to blow up because God forbid an Ag say something about Texas.
Anyhow, this was a monumentally idiotic move for Jones, and the guy deserves prison. I’m glad he’s not on the team any longer.
I can see your point
yet trust me, I am not in the least bit insecure about myself, my school, or my affiliation with the school.
I was merely pointing out that yet again, bg was able to take something that has everything to do with aggy, and nothing to do with Texas, and try and spin it in a negative light for Texas.
If you check this blog even once a week, you will know what I’m talking about.

Coming from a Longhorn who has been baited by your flameposts too many times, I’m gonna offer a suggestion. Tone down the tu remarks. It not only takes a great deal of credibility away from your blog, but it also makes you look to have little-brother syndrome, or an inferiority complex.
I’ve actually enjoyed reading a good deal of your posts, but it’s borderline pathetic how much you try and rag on Texas when we have no connection to the article you are writing. I know you probably won’t take this advice, but just thought I’d try and reason with you at least once.
if you can think of a similar incident of a college football player doing something so stupid when legal authorities are in close proximity
I’d love to hear your example
this has nothing to do with texas, that is was a texas player that did that is irrelevant
it has to do with finding a relevant comparison of a college athlete doing something idiotic in the presence of the police
if it had been a Baylor Bear or Red Raider or Sooner or Cowboy or Cornhusker, I would have made the same comparison
Gotta agree with Longhorn 11
some of your posts are enjoyable to read (otherwise I would have gotten the hell out of here loooooooonnggg ago)
It not only takes a great deal of credibility away from your blog, but it also makes you look to have little-brother syndrome, or an inferiority complex.
That is 100% right. You ask why Texas views aggy as the little brother?
Case. In. Point.
Please post a link

I thought you would never ask

I’ve never understood this designation from ‘sips. You don’t know that texas was founded AFTER A&M, right? texas didn’t open until seven years after A&M had already started holding classes. How, exactly, does being a younger institution make them a "big brother"?
About halfway down the page. Quote by the mighty beergut himself.
Again
The big brother thing is more about how we dominate the series. If you won for 40 years in a row, you still wouldn’t be .500 against Texas
i was going to say when a drunk-driving Monroe puked in the cruiser, that was pretty stupid. but that also was a longhorn, so it doesn’t really help your cause. and he got off, so i guess it wasn’t all that stupid in the grand scheme of things.
i think when longhorns screw up, there is a lot of pubilicity so they are easy to remember.
It's kind of funny...
…that all of this sprang from a perfectly relevant comparison that highlighted his point (about a moronic ex-ag, BTW). The moron tsipper did call from jail bragging about beating up witnesses. All of this talk of “reason” means only that its to be “your way or the highway”…..
this is a blog, not the new york times. he can write whatever he wants. i’ll give him shit for it, but requesting he “tone down the disrespect” for a rival is pretty ridiculous.

Agree
I believe we did bring up the Jerome Stevens comparison when talking about Kindle’s driving incident. Are we biased against Washington? Some of you people need to lighten up.
My understanding is that Jones barely made it to any classes and skipped those “voluntary” workout sessions during the two weeks he was in Aggieland. That is why it was a “mutual” decision for him to leave.
You can't think that.
A DUI simply does say “STUPID” like calling from your cell and bragging about beating up witnesses OR parking in front of a police station and commencing to beat your girlfriend. If you would let go of your petulance for just a moment you will see that.
Beergut
managed to post an entire topic on Sergio Kindle falling down a flight of stairs. He also was able to post stories about other Texas players run ins with the law. Even posted a story merely speculating that an ex Longhorn may have assaulted a female.
I agree that one offense is worse than the other, yet it seems beergut only cares to post stories about Texas players. There was the story about how Sergio Kindle crashed into a building while he was “texting” (your own interpretations are welcome, who knows what he was really doing that night). BG assumes he was drunk when he crashed, and posts a story. Yet fails to post a story about an OU RB who was DEFINITELY drunk and got caught.
Just some little things I pick up.
if OU was A&M's rival, you might have a point
if this was Madu’s second offense, it would be relevant
I never posted anything about Kindle’s first offense, it was only when it happened for a second time and he ran into a damn building that I pointed it out
then he goes and falls down a flight of stairs
only the most delusional of ‘sips doesn’t see a pattern there
