#9 Aggie Soccer Defeats #21 Washington State, 1-0
Alyssa Mautz scored the games only goal in the 62nd minute, giving the Aggies a shutout win over #16 Washington State in College Station today. Mautz's goal gives her five for the season so far, four this weekend alone. With the victory, the Aggies conclude the Aggieland Invitational Tournament with a 2-0 record, both wins coming over ranked teams.
Despite a low-scoring game, the Aggies dominated throughout, outshooting the Cougars 12-2 in the first half and 14-3 in the second half, giving them a 26-5 advantage for the game. The Aggie defense played well, as goalkeeper Kristin Arnold faced only three shots on goal in the first half, and one shot on goal in the second. The shutout is Arnold's second of the season.
The soccer team's next match is Friday, September 3, when they face Davidson.
