A&M Recruiting Oversigned LSU Prospect For Defensive Line
LSU and Les Miles signed 29 recruits in their 2010 recruiting class, but when more recruits qualified than expected, they were left with more players than open roster spots, so they had oversigned by two spots. One of those two prospects is Elliott Porter, an offensive guard recruit from Archbishop Shaw High School in Waggaman, LA who recently was told there was no room for him in Baton Rouge. Porter was a star defensive lineman at Shaw High School, but was expected to move to offensive line at LSU. Reports are that Porter is looking at Tennessee because of his previous relationship with former La Tech head coach Derek Dooley, but A&M is trying to build depth on the defensive line, so there might be an opportunity for him in College Station. With the loss of Adren Dorsey and Rod Davis, there is space available in our two-deep, and at 6'4, 290 lbs, Porter already has the size to play DE and rotate at NG right now.
If Porter is looking for a place where he has the ability to see immediate playing time, and he'll be welcomed with open arms, A&M is the right place for him. He might end up going to Tennessee, but Porter will be someone to watch in the next few days as we wait for Fall Camp to open.

Tenn is a program in turmoil
I don’t see why any kid would want to go join that mess. They are still trying to figure out the Kiffine violations, and the coach is not proven. I think you aggies are an easy pick over Tenn.
This oversigning by Miles and Saban needs to be stopped. I hope a lot of teams make them eat their arrogance over this…..I hope the kid gets to play LSU and rip them up, no matter where he goes. That would suck to be duped like that.
well, oversigning is bad
but these kids need to be able to ascertain the situation when they join, too
the math isn’t that hard, although they can be forgiven for believing a coach when he says there is a place for them
SEC recruiting rules
From what I’ve read, the SEC has capped recruiting at 28 players per year per school, because of the ridiculous over-signing. I also read that Houston Nutt is the absolute worst offender, and the rule was made because he signed 37 players in one class. Check it out: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/stewart_mandel/08/02/masoli-nutt/index.html
