Go Vote For Jerrod For The Davey O'Brien Award
Fan Vote for the 2010 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is now open. Fans can cast their vote for the nation's best college quarterback as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org. You need to register and login to vote, but it only takes a few seconds.
I'm sure we all want to see Jerrod Johnson win the award for the nation's best quarterback, so go ahead and login and vote. I'm going to try to vote early and often and encourage everyone else to do the same. The O'Brien is really the only award that gives fans the opportunity to have a say in the selection process, so we need to take advantage of that opportunity.
From a press release I received over email:
The 2010 season marks the fourth time in The O'Brien's history that fans have had a say in the voting. The Fan Vote counts as 5% during each round of the voting process, and it is combined with the results from the O'Brien National Selection Committee, which is comprised of journalists, broadcasters, commentators and former winners. Fan Vote totals are cleared after each voting round.
From now until October 24 is the first round of voting, after which the votes will be cleared and 16 semifinalists will be named. Fan voting will re-open on October 25, at which time we will be voting for the 3 finalists. Finalists will be determined Nov. 21, then the final round of voting for the winner will go from November 22 until voting closes on December 5. The winner will be announced on December 9 on ESPN as part of the ESPNU College Football Awards Show.

Man, it’s ridiculously early to even be considering these sorts of awards. The idea that any QBs solo performance against the fightin’ Eclairs of Bakery Tech University is all one has to go on when voting for an award is beyond ludicrous.
Hmm, good point.
And all other Fan-vote based awards are legitimate because they wait a little to start taking votes…
agreed
but if they’re going to allow ballot-box stuffing this early, I’m going to participate
better to do it than risk JJ not getting the recognition he deserves
